BTW, the fake punt/film controversy was 17 years ago. EMU became bowl eligible last night. Doubt they have time this week to hold a 17 year old grudge.

Ready for the announcement any time they hold the presser. Can't wait to hear the last few southern Archie Bunkers cry in their PBR over it. Maybe they will get tears and beer all over their nascar t-shirt.

I'm actually more worried about Akron. If they're in as much financial trouble as some claim, I could see them nixing this idea to save on their travel costs. Unless the divisions are worked out in their favor...

There is unconfirmed speculation that the addition of WKU and MTSU to the MAC will be announced Saturday at halftime of the WKU-MTSU rivalry game known as the "400 miles of hate." If this is true, it shows unusually good planning and execution by the MAC bigwigs. Is it possible that they actually got their act together and can pull this off?

The game is available only on the Watch Stadium streaming service.

I think it's called "100 miles of hate." The two schools are about 100 miles apart.

I wonder if they'll run the risk of announcing it to the crowd at the game or just on the TV broadcast. Sure to get mixed reviews by the folks at the game.

MTSU board claiming we are requiring a 25 year commitment and a 2 million dollar entry fee. IF those are true, MAC way over playing their hand.

Thanks for the correction. Not sure where I came up with the 400 miles -- that would be 4 round trips.

There’s no way it’s 25 years, and apparently the source is extremely flimsy

I agree, hence the IF part. This is a marriage of convenience and necessity on both sides if it happens. I think both sides will benefit from it.

Apparently this was a quote of post from a Marshall fan who MTSU fans said recently posted that the MAC would never even consider MTSU. They doubt his credibility. There was a tweet by an actual reporter that they are negotiating a GOR, but the Marshall poster apparently just made up the 25 year bit.

Edit: This poster is MUHERD76, here's what he said earlier that proved to be completely wrong: "Heard late last night from some 'friends in the know' on the MAC side that there is some consideration in going to 14 schools in a model that included Western Kentucky but DID NOT include MTSU."

Dug up a few topics on csnbbs... I think this MUHERD76 guy is high on something. he's now saying that he was wrong and its going to be a 15 year GOR commitment. He is literally the only guy talking about this and his other predictions haven't exactly been accurate despite him "knowing an inside guy"

Sounds to me like a weirdo jealous fanboy of Terd who just wants to rub dirt in our eyes for no reason at all. What's the matter? Afraid the MAC might be better off without you? Afraid you made the wrong decision to not beg to come back and be paired up with WKU?

Negotiations... start high... let the other side counter-offer...end up with a compromise. That's smart business strategy. Smarter than letting a league fall apart (cough-cough, OVC, CUSA) and then trying in desperation to coble it back together with fishing line and duct tape.

One of the prominent MTSU forums now says 25 years was BS...15 is the number and will end up at 12. The few anti-north and anti-MAC holdouts will try anything to sabotage this move to the MAC. They are best to be ignored.

FYI: MUHERD76 was posting about the Marshall move to the SBC. He was correct it would happened, but he was very wrong about the details. I would take him with a grain of salt.

Have to wonder about whether Detroit and Cleveland will have to be reconsidered as our footprint stretches south. Cincinnati in play? Columbus? Lexington?

I wouldn't mind seeing the game moved to Lucas Oil Field although are they are tied into the Big Ten indefinitely?

I believe only Lucas Oil and Ford are the only indoor facilities within the MAC footprint?

I would think they want to continue using an indoor stadium?

He was correct, but also a lot of other credible sources were talking about it around the same time. He is literally the only one I've seen talk about this 15-25 year GOR deal. Almost frustrating seeing a lot of different fan boards picking up on this and treating it like it's good info.

I may be totally eating my words about it, but we'll see in the next week or two at the latest.

Somebody brought up the Yum Center in Louisville for a basketball destination, and while I'm not thrilled about playing in a larger college's arena compared to an NBA arena, it is an intriguing prospect. I guess you could also say Nationwide in Columbus, though I've never been there and can't speak to its viability for the MAC.

Why is everyone so afraid to play outside in December? Go far South enough and it would be no different than most Tuesday night MACtion games. Isn't this FOOTBAW?

It would be pretty stupid given the huge alumni base in Cleveland and Detroit for Ohio and Michigan MAC schools, easy access to both locations for the majority of MAC schools, high-quality venues and generally above-average attendance when compared to other G5s. It's not broken so don't try to fix it.

Last December 5th, CMU, WMU, NIU and Akron all hosted games. On December 12th, games were played at EMU, BSU, Buffalo and Toledo. Of course, no fans were there.

Nationwide is an awesome arena, but if they are reliant on any local attendance there isn’t a city that could care less. They care about Ohio State, marginally about their 2 pro teams and the Clippers, and zero about anything else. It’s the same reason more and more OHSAA events are being booted out of town too (OSU doesn’t care nor does the population)

Now that I live in Cincinnati....I'm all FOR the MAC championships being moved here!

Just kidding. ...But I think a move further south has to at least be considered. I understand the desire to have a domed stadium. Cincinnati doesn't have one. And I guess the arena for hoops would have to be US Bank? Fifth Third and Cintas are nice arenas, but we would lose the prestige of having it in an NBA arena. Maybe Indianapolis?

Ted Thompson wants it moved to UD.

I also understand the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mindset regarding Detroit and Cleveland. Things are good there.

What part are you kidding about: You moved to Cincy? That the MAC championships should move there? Or, both?
