We've seen how this goes with basketball if the coaching staff isn't solidly in place for future years.

Circles back to my thought/opinion on the whole program right now: Gotta decide if winning the MAC is important, or if just fielding a football team that is called an FBS squad is all that matters. If winning the MAC anytime soon truly matters, it seems like moving on from this coaching staff would be the first order of business sometime around December 1st.

Two coaches are retiring which is an opportunity to upgrade the staff with better recruiters so with a win against BG or not Albin I'm quite sure will be back.

That’s a good point.

Recruiting seems to have hit the toilet this year.

A decent young defensive coach who can recruit might save the program and maybe Albin’s job.

The remaining staff is fairly competent and returning offensive starters should get the job done. An extra WR and RB are needed. A transfer or two won’t hurt.

If we get a decent young defensive coach who can turn around our defensive woes in one year, we will be very lucky. I hope it happens, but it’s a long shot for sure.

I’m going to this game.

Why?

Listen. I never claimed to be a smart or rational person.

Having been a part of this program I am 99% certain that we aren’t the kind of team that is going to hire a young gun defensive coordinator. I simply can’t picture a 33 year old sitting in the DFO’s office calling our defense on game days. I don’t know if “old school” is the the best way I would describe the ethos of Ohio Bobcat Football but it’s pretty darn close. Never say never but it wouldn’t be an idea that I’d hitch my horse to just yet.

If someone young and well-regarded was hired, I’m assuming it would be the coach in-waiting and was forced upon Albin.

I suspect instead we’ll see a coach who is towards the end of his career.

This is a good story of how Mike Gundy found Mike Yurcich as his offensive coordinator. Yurcich guy has been successful. I'd be tempted to look at small schools and look to hire someone who is young and has a high ceiling. That does not mean coach in waiting--it could mean he is filling his resume to head to the Big Ten. I'd like to see a young hungry guy like this.

So with BSU beating Buffalo tonight, Ohio will finish all alone in 3rd place in the East; BG can tie for fourth with a win Friday.

Also, the entire MAC West is bowl eligible. It's the first time an entire division was bowl eligible since the SEC West did it in 2015.

We will get by.

There's got to be a reason Tyler Tettleton is here. Maybe a youth movement is part of the plan.

So we will either finish 4-4 in the MAC East or 3-5 and either way will be the sole team in third place in the MAC East. However, before you get too excited over that fact, consider this. The top team in the MAC East will finish with a record of 7-5/6-2, while the second place team will finish with a record of 6-6/6-3. Not too impressive in anyone's book. As i have stated before we play in the worst division of all FBS teams.

That says as much about how bad the East is as it does about the West. There will be eight eligible MAC teams which has certainly happened before. I think only once did eight MAC teams get to play and I think that was a result of La. Tech screwing themselves accidentally by not wanting to play UL-Monroe in the Independence Bowl. They let the MAC have that spot with the secondary contract. When NIU made the BCS the MAC had seven other bowls they could cover and no other spots were open. Could the MAC get eight again?

I'm looking at the projections on team rankings. Their projections sum to 81.3 eligible teams which means there is a realistic chance all eligible teams could get a bowl.
https://www.teamrankings.com/ncf/projections/standings /

They have 73 eligible teams. Then there are 22 other teams have a chance. If half if them win then 2 eligible teams would sit. The thing is most of them should apparently be underdogs this week. We have seen in the past where slightly more 5-6 teams pull upsets than you might expect but it doesn't always happen. I don't know if that's a real motivational affect against an opponent where the difference between 7 and 8 wins might not matter as much.

Here are the 22 chances.
W Virginia 94.60%
Florida 72.30%
Old Dominion 69.80%
Rutgers 63.00%
Memphis 61.80%
Fla Atlantic 59.50%
Middle Tenn 40.50%
Troy 38.80%
Maryland 37.00%
LSU 35.60%
VA Tech 35.00%
Charlotte 30.20%
Florida St 27.70%
Tulsa 23.20%
Hawaii 23.10%
San Jose St 21.60%
USC 21.10%
Syracuse 20.90%
North Texas 16.80%
California 14.40%
TX Christian 13.70%
S Alabama 13.00%

I wasn’t implying that we were incapable of hiring young guys. Tett, Faanes, and Metz are obviously on the staff. I meant that we aren’t going to have young coordinators.

Well, don't many buildings at Fiami look sort of similar? Wake Forest too but Wake has a reason for that, so many of the buildings look like so many other ones there. Something to do with the entire campus moving from one end of North Carolina to the other and building an entire new campus at the new location in the mid-1950's.

No, Miami's buildings, like those at Ohio, follow a common architectural plan. They are both mainly Georgian style (with Cutler Hall an exception, as it's Federal style). There is good architectural continuity. At BG it just looks like each building is its own "favor of the day."

I know that we will have home field next season but given how much younger they are than us an how recruiting is going if we lose to them this year how could we possibly expect to beat them next year? It could be a really long year. :(

Team isn't scoring on BG's defense. This is sad.

118 yards of offensive(!)play. That’s pretty depressing.

When is the last time we caused a turnover?

Team is playing like a 3-8 team today instead of a 6-7 win version that it was close to becoming.

I’m sorry but there has to be someone on the sideline who can be better than 4 for 11 for 14 yards and an interception. Bring on anybody
