Don't like. I liked Towns and wished he had stayed. Hope we are not in for Jason Grunkemeyer 2.0.

Wish it would've worked out better for Sam here in Athens. Happy he at least found a home that is on par with Ohio and didn't have to drop down a division.

He seems like a good guy.

Maybe Boals can find a way to replace his 1.8 points per game, 14% from three, 42% FT shooting, 0.1 blocks per game, etc.

I’m honestly a bit surprised he remained D1. He looks the part, he’s athletic and can defend, but I’d blindly be willing to take whatever is behind Door #2 than hope for him to take a huge step up,
especially on the offensive side of the court where outside of 8 feet,
I wouldn’t guard him.

Like your snarky post on stats. Would have been better to post his actual numbers:

Played in 27 games while making two starts…Averaged 10.3 minutes a game…Averaged 2.1 points and 2.5 rebounds a game…Recorded three blocks and 25 assists during the season…Shot 40.4 percent from the field, 16.7 percent from three and 50 percent from the line

So his 3 point percent wasn't a whole lot different than a starter who hit a little over 20 percent.

Your assist stat shocked me -- didn't fit my mind's eye after watching 95% of games this year. So I also looked up his stats and I think you confused the assist and personal foul columns. ohiobobcats.com shows 6 assists on the season and 25 PFs.

I was implying, in what I thought was funny way, that he was wrong on one (Saul) and might turn out to be wrong on the other (Towns). Now, that you make me spell this out it sounds like I’m mad at Fear Leon, or picking a fight with him. Neither is true. I usually admire Fear Leon’s analysis of OHIO basketball, which is greatly superior to mine. I just think he was unnecessarily harsh in some of his comments about Saul, and I was trying to in a light, funny way comment on that one issue. Fear Leon, I luv you, man. Hope you understood my initial remark as it was meant.

No hard feelings at all OCF. I didn't even tie in Saul to my Towns comment. I honestly think this is the first time I've typed the word Saul into a post in three years. Yes, I was critical of Saul's recruiting misses just as I have been with Boals and his staff.

Back on topic, I just don't see Towns contributing on the D1 level. Nothing more...nothing less. Just as I said the same thing about the likes of Foster, Miguel, White, Gareri and McMurray.

With that said, I do think Boals and staff did an excellent job with the three portal additions. Loving the size with Wilson and Whiz and we have guys on the perimeter who can play. Brod better be ready come October because the competition for minutes is going to be good for everyone.
