I wonder if AJ Brown, also from Orlando, had any help in this recruitment.

(Sounds like he played in Wichita, KS last year at Sunrise Christian)

Also had offers from Kansas State and Drake. Nice.

Somebody is going to say it, so I'll be that guy.

Has he learned the correct name of the school yet?

I'm surprised, if not disappointed, that I'm the first one to suggest Boals has to play a deep rotation this season of 11 . . . no, make that, 12 players.

Elliott ranked above the much talked about UK decommit Billy Richmond Jr. (composite 5 star) in shooting efficiency. There is no way he doesn't play serious minutes off the bench beginning on day one.

Looks like Aiden Hadaway has some competition for highlight reel dunks next season... :)

Just feels like the perfect fit. And love the fact that he’s a HS kid. Not worried about Sheldon losing minutes. Keep knocking down the 3 ball and he’ll get minutes.

FWIW, according to 247 Sports, Elijah is our second highest ranked all-time recruit. DJ Cooper being number one. Elijah two and Mark Sears number three. Pretty heady company...

One last tidbit. After doing a Google search of Mark Sears, the third ranked result was Mark Sears' mom. Huh?

Composite three star?

He did have offers from Bama, Clemson, Penn State

Maybe they thought he was a football player?

AJ Brown is 4th on the list, one spot ahead of Ayden Evans.

Three of Ohio's top five rated recruits of the past 15+ years will be on the Bobcats next year according to 247.

I say 15+ years because we know the recruiting sites don't really have much data prior to early 2000's.

Let's say a starting lineup of:
PG: Reef
SG: Paveletzke
C: Clayton
PF: Hadaway
SF: AJ Brown

That leaves us with a very exciting bench of:
PG: Elliott
SG: Sheldon
C: Evans
PF: Searls
SF: E. James

Then we can let Nichol and Burris chill for a year. With 2 other schollies open though, what can we expect? I am guessing no more high-profile guys. Minutes may be tough to come by. Elliott isn't coming here to be a project and sit. Perhaps Searls' minutes would be chopped into if we get a D1 post but I am still excited about Searls. Elliott will be explosive though!

Elliott will be the ace defensive stopper off the bench.

Nicol just redshirted. He will get some minutes somehow somewhere.

what about gary trent .dave jamerson, snoopy graham, and walter luckett? those guys were way above dj cooper and mark sears. and walter was ranked number one in overall recruits. this guy does sound like a wonderful pick up.what are the odds he will enter the portal after his first season? id say he,ll be a one and done from the looks of it.

That's why I mentioned within the past 15+ years. The recruiting databases don't have good information prior to 2005 so their rankings are essentially based on recent history.

Gary Trent was an after thought on the recruiting trail. Played in a poor conference, with non athletes and didn’t do the entire AAU circuit, plus wasn’t a given in eligibility. Yes he shot 82% his senior year, but no one in his league was taller than 6’4, no one else on his team was 6’

I'm not sure Jamerson and Graham came in with that much buzz. Neither were starters much of their FR year. Geno probably came in with more hype.

I can tell you there was a lot of buzz among basketball junkies in regard to Dave Jamerson and Snoop Graham. I happened to be in the state of Ohio on my beat covering the NY Knicks for Newsday in NY and was able to attend the North-South high school basketball all-star game in Canton with Ohio assistant Fran Fraschilla. Jamerson and Reggie Rankin played in the game. Fran had been crowing to me for some time that Jamerson blew up his senior year at Stow High (in Akron); he averaged 34 per game. I left that game knowing that we had a special kid; although their releases were very different, he shot the ball, to me, like a right-handed Chris Mullin.

Graham was a big-time player in the Philadelphia city league at famed Ben Franklin High. It took a long time before he made his decision. There were several big schools in there; the only one I remember was UNLV.

Ratings were very different then. And if you chose a MAC school, for the most part--Walter Luckett notwithstanding--you got knocked down a peg or two. Soooo, by today's standards, Snoop would rate with or slightly above DJ Cooper. Jamerson somewhere below that, certainly not on talent, but because he didn't have a big rep.
