I mistakenly put this on the Boldon thread, probably should have gone here. Jaya McClure to the portal.

After the womens program has yet another non winning season next year, fans can expect another year added onto the contract by this administration! Done secretly!

I hereby nominate you for the coveted Monroe Slavin Memorial Beating a Dead Horse Trophy. I'm thinking you'll be the hands down winner. In fact, I'm not even sure who would be in second place.

If you agree with this nomination, BAers, please give this post a +1.

The team has signed a 2025 high school prospect, Arianna Jennings from Texas. I think the team's only new signing for next year so far.

https://ohiobobcats.com/news/2025/4/21/womens-basketball-...

This says she's 5'11", her Twitter says 6'2". Had offers from Mcneese, Texas A&M-CC, Southern Miss, UMBC, UC-Riverside, New Orleans, Louisiana, Texas Southern.

OCF- you can give me any award you so choose, but I’m just giving you the facts which you and a few others on this website refuse to accept! I expect you to defend this pathetic record and the administration for this great renewal for one more fantastic season. See ya again same time next year! While you are in the mood for passing out awards, keep congratulating the administration for that wonderful baseball hire and paying the mens basketball coach the top salary in the league for his annual five or three seed performances. Please feel free to spread the awards around for those outstanding jobs!

Thank you for confirming the appropriateness of the Monroe Slavin Beating a Dead Horse Award. Keep it up, and you may get it with a gold-leaf cluster!

OCF- Is that all you have? You were a former journalist back in the day. Come on! I'm giving you facts and all you want to do is berate me! Why don't you do some homework and call your buddy Frank? Of course, if you have attended a womens BB game as of late you know how good that squad is. And while you are at it, walk on over to the baseball field and watch that team play. Congratulate the AD on the great job for secretly renewing the womens BB coach and that outstanding baseball hire.

Unless I read it wrong Baseball is 10-32 not exactly a record to be proud of.

Same thing Women's BB finished 6-23 .

Don't see many positives there either.

Burner- I don't understand what part of these facts you have trouble comprehending. Is it the fact that the mens basketball coach was the highest paid coach in the league during the 2024-25 season? Is it the fact that the mens hoops program has finished 3rd or 5th seed annually or worse since Boals has been the head coach? Is it the fact that Kent, Toledo and Akron have all had better league records than Ohio's mens basketball coach the last six seasons? Is it the fact that Ohio's womens coach has won a total of six games twice in two of the last three seasons? Is it the fact that Ohio womens coach has not had a winning record the last four seasons? Is it the fact that the current AD recently renewed the womens coach with that wonderful performance? Is it the fact that the baseball coach, who the current Administration hired has not won more than 40 per cent of their games the last three seasons? Is it the fact that no football coach won more conference games than Albin did the last four seasons? These aren't opinions Burner. These are facts! It could be that you don't understand the difference in opinions and facts?

And one more FACT .... just for YOU! I for one have tired of reading your same cut and paste over and over. So .........

Is it not a FACT that Tim Albin accepted a job with UNCC while still an employee of Ohio, with our football season not yet over? He CHOSE to leave Athens. That is a FACT.

Burner- I'm waiting. What facts above did you not understand? The womens Basketball coach being secretly renewed by this administration with not one winning season in the last four years? Or was it the fact that the administration paid Boals the highest salary in the league for his 3rd/5th seed finishes yearly. Or possibly it is the fact that the current baseball coach hired by this administration has not won more than 40% of the games in the last three seasons? Keep congratulating the administration for these blunders.

No one is doing any congratulating on losing. Boals was extended for March success. Period. He won the tournament and won an NCAA Tournament game. Was rewarded.

WBB wasn't a secret extension. It was the same situation as Boals, Albin, etc. Athens is a news desert. No one knew Boals had a new deal after the NCAA Tournament win for YEARS.

Baseball is on his first contract. Do you want the university spending resources on buying out the baseball coach? If he is extended, I will take everything back.

Quite a few people knew Boals was extended, but ok. You have a point on Moore, he just finished his fourth season, so the department is close to a decision on this program, wouldn’t think they signed to more than a 5 year deal.

His point is that there was no news coverage about Boals' extension. Someone on BA had to file a FOIA request to learn the details.

Given that media environment, it's self-serving and disingenuous to refer to an extension as "secretive". There's a big, big difference between keeping a secret and nobody caring enough to ask.

The team has added Elli Garnett (sister of Abby), 6-0 forward transferring from Nicholls State (though our release calls this "Nicholas" and "Nichols" - proofread proofread proofread). She also has stops at Northern Colorado, Eastern Florida State College, and Winthrop (head coach Semeka Randall!).

The team has added 5'6'' guard Bella Ranallo, a transfer from Clemson. Didn't play last season (injury?) and appeared in only seven games her freshman year. I don't see much of a recruiting profile for her so I wonder if she was a walk-on there.

The team has announced a new signing for this year's roster. Antonicia Moultrie from Garden City CC and the Bahamas. 5'9" guard.

I wish her well and she could turn out to be a good player, but it's laughable how we have a year after year personnel weakness yet we still go after pretty much one profile of player. In her defense, Antonicia averaged 10 boards at JUCO, but where is the player who can match up physically with the 6'2+ posts that other MAC teams are able to get? Where are the shot blockers?

I am not anticipating a good year, sadly.

I have it from a very good source that while OHIO is not paying female players directly, some other MAC schools are. I believe Toledo and WMU were mentioned. Nothing like a level playing field.
