Per Zach Fleer...

'19 Thomas Worthington C Ben Wight is re-opening his recruitment. Wight and the new staff at Ohio U are going separate ways. The 6-foot-8 post is back on the market and has plenty of upside

We're all waiting for the celebrations to come from the dozens of resident recruiting guru's here.

I'd say it's about to get really active in the recruiting forum. There are currently 5 open scholarships to give by my math. Divide those among freshmen and transfers, and lose no one else, and there's potential for a solid group here for next year.

Wow, I hope the young man gets another offer. He should have some D2 options available.

Arkley insinuating that this has damaged the relationship with TWHS and it'll be hard to attract players from there in the future. I find that hard to believe... old coach offered. Coach leaves. Offer leaves. Do you think this has any future impact?

It could if the high school coach feels spurned. Wight signed so the new coach cannot force him out, Boals probably told him that he does not believe that Wight can succeed in the MAC, and encouraged him to reopen his recruiting.

Snarkley is going to try to highlight any and all deficiencies or negatives he can find with the new staff - whether they are real or he has to gin up some fairy tales ala the mainstream media - because his daddy wasn't renewed and he's still crying and pouting in the sand box.

This will "hurt" our ability to recruit TWHS - until the next good recruit comes out of there. At which point we'll be fine. Such a non-story.

Arkley is a joke and continues to showcase it in nearly every tweet.

I can’t imagine that there are that many good recruits coming out of TWHS, but I may be wrong.

JJ Sullinger's son is coming up. Wight's recruitment has zero impact on future recruiting.

I think you're reaching here. Why you have it out for Arkley, I'm not sure. Seems to me he's only speculating if it could impact the recruitment of Sullinger in the future, while he and Fleer are pointing out this came from OU more so than Wight choosing to re-open recruitment.

AAU has more influence on recruiting than HS, so this may actually influence McDay more than Sullinger since Wight and McDay both played for Nova Village. But I think most people who have been through the circuit know the lack of loyalty. This isn’t football, where such a move would definitely pop a pipeline.

This one is on Arkley, you can’t say off the cuff stuff without cross referencing it with worthington’s coach or Wight, signs point to a Saulcoholic that needs therapy. How many shots will he take at Boals? How deep is his love for Saul? He immediately insinuated the worst without backing it up.

Arkley should chill, he is coming off as partial to Saul. It is ok to feel that way, but his journalism should be objective and factual. Boals doesn’t deserve these darts, he is a former Bobcat that took his dream job. Go Cats and May Saul be blessed in his future endeavors.

it’s how the system works. Coach has overwhelming power. by the way. anyone that applauds this can not be upset at carter for leveraging his options....just as Boals has.

Not really a positive correlation, Wight I reopened his recruiting after honest dialogue with a new coach, JC left his teammates to join a new team. I don’t think anyone is hoping that jc burns a bridge or is inferring that he burned a bridge.

My point is that both Carter and Boals took advantage of the power the system provides so they are parallels. - you can not accept one and fault the other. Did Carter leave his teammates out to dry? Perhaps. Did Boals leave Wight and his Ohio teammates out to dry - in the same sense yes. Because one (Carter) is a positive impact and another (Wight) is perceived as a less than does not change the situation at all - except from a fandom standpoint

"Honest dialogue" was Boals telling Wight he did not see him fitting in his system - translate - hit the road you are not good enough. there is not dialogue in these cases. it is a monologue. I did not imply Carter burned a bridge with anyone - nor did Boals - except with Wight's head coach - which will have limited impact. but is simply the system.

We can jump to conclusions and think that we are wright, in all reality, we were not there and neither the player or coach is saying that we burned a bridge. It is just pure speculation and imagination. Go Cats

it’s not about wright or wrong nor about burning bridges. my original point, which is not speculation is that Carter telling Ohio he is leaving and Boals telling Wight he is no longer invited (not speculation) are the same play from different sides of the coin.

In all of this, you need to remember he signed a LOI and could come to Ohio for at least one year no matter what Boals wanted. This indicated that Boals was going to tell him that after one year he was gone and maybe he shouldn't even come. I can see where that would tend to piss off his high school coach and many in the community. I am not saying Boals is wrong, but this is pretty insulting. If it is only a verbal or an offer, there is nothing binding, but a LOI is a contract.
