Very astute observation, Sir.

I wonder if this turf will be in a pile by the stadium right after wards... and if one could get a piece.

Went a little too far west, let's go SJ Earthquakes!

Have you seen Louisvilles new field design?  The trim around the outside make the field look 3 dimensional.  Like the Raptors names under the basket.

I can't find the link but it was on Bleacher Report.

That's a really sharp look on the new field.

I hope that they used water based paint for the Big East logos lol.

OKay, now the real question is will OHIO score more TDs at the "Cardinal" end of the field or the "Louisville" end?  Perhaps this should be the first "Bobcat Challenge" of the year.  I'll put up $50.00 for each TD on the Cardinal end.  Other takers?

The field has had no drainage issues since the switch from natural grass to field turf almost 12 years ago. The flush test is a normal practice everytime you replace the artificial surface. Once the old turf is gone they will also check the base level and adjust the grade as needed.

I've seen a post on Facebook from Matt Morton that work is set to begin on Tuesday.

Astro Turf is the company that will do the install. They will install a polyethylene slit film product called GameDayXPE.

Well I hope their field turf performance and installation capabilities are better than their web site.  Lots of missing links.

I thought someone said The Motz group was on campus.

It's kind of neat how the turf is coming up.  The have a machine that actually starts with a small roll of turf and moves across the field rolling up the turf as you would roll up carpet.

My understanding is that they will be selling the old turf.

Of course, my understanding usually has little to do with reality.

Some may be going to the OU softball bullpens and some may get donated for youth practice areas such as bullpens or batting cages. The bulk of it is to be shipped out and recycled.

If they sell it I expect to see it on the Auction Site.

As per Jason Grooms on twitter:

The new turf will be installed next Wednesday (5/15). The old turf is to be recycled at a facility in California.

I asked about selling the turf a while back. As you can see from the pictures, it folds away in giant rolls - there's no easy way to cut it into smaller pieces. So from what I was told, there won't be any for auction/sale.

Looks like a good opportunity for an entrepreneur to open up a field turf recycling facility in this part of the country if ours has to be trucked all the way to California?!

Grooms said on twitter that he wanted to take a roll but that each roll weighed 2,700 pounds. I'm guessing they decided not to sell parts of it because of the effort needed to break it down into manageable chunks.

With any forethought they should have just rolled everything but one of the endzones and had a pre-order set up to cut it in select chucks that could have been done the same days they were getting rid of it.  Not saying it would be easy, but they could have maybe set it up so that if there weren't enough pre-orders by a certain day they would just cancel them and roll it up with the rest.  Again hindsight is 20/20.

My guess is someone came to Jim Schauss with the idea and his response was "ain't nobody got time for that!"
