I've heard they will begin laying the new Turf today.  Does anyone have visual confirmation?  I know Jason Grooms has been tweeting about the progress.  I've not seen anything from him yet.

With any forethought they should have just rolled everything but one of the endzones and had a pre-order set up to cut it in select chucks that could have been done the same days they were getting rid of it.  Not saying it would be easy, but they could have maybe set it up so that if there weren't enough pre-orders by a certain day they would just cancel them and roll it up with the rest.  Again hindsight is 20/20.

I don't know why its a big deal. Why can't they just roll it up just they way they are doing, then find a carpet dealer that wants to get involved, and let him put a couple of the rolls in his warehouse, then as it is sold, let him just cut it off the roll to order.

There's also the chance that the pricing of the new turf included the return of the old one.

I want the old field to create a grass suit like the one David Byrne had made for the movie "True Stories"

I never knew how nice that 2nd floor was with those murals on the wall. That's bad ass. Also an amazing recruiting tool. I hate to say it, but if we had 30,000 seats and an upper deck, I think it would get possible recruits fired up and proud to be a bobcat if they see a big stadium. Expansion!

I doubt it is the case, but I think it would look to cool to alternate the whole field between the two shades of green here - (picture via Jason Grooms on twitter)

Uh oh.....looks like we had our field made in our school colors.  Hope we don't get into hot water with the NCAA!

Looks like the endzones will be the same as previous field with the exception of the slightly darker green.
Block OHIO in white with no outlined color.  They would put down the outline color first.

boring......

I thought this was going to have some unique special design?

I'm also concerned that they are not installing the rubber pad under the carpet.  Makes a world of difference.

I'm noticing the new lettering is about 15% larger than the old lettering if you look back at the old turf pictures. That is a good thing. It still looks a whole lot better than the grass green turf in place before.

Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended

Looking better...

edit- OK, I originally thought the yard lines were shown here with a green highlight.  Looking at it now, I just think the sections are not yet attached and that is the base seen between each section.

the new field really helps to emphasize how faded the bleachers are.

Good point. Anyone remember when the current version of bleachers was installed? I tend to think it was mid-late 80's (around the time when the endzone "corners" were put in)...but I don't recall for sure.

If that's the case, those bleachers are now about 25 years old!

Hopefully the team keeps bringing in large student crowds that stay past the 110 plays

If we're gonna start suggesting replacement of faded aluminum seats, better plan on ponying up a LOT more cash to the department.  Heck, we still haven't been able to raise the $400k needed to renovate the FB locker room.  Only took a couple of months to raise $600k for basketball.

Grooms replied to a question in his twitter feed that the mid-field logo was changing. But yeah, so far it looks pretty much the same to me...

I hate that it's just the cat in the middle! That's not our logo!! What other instances...anywhere...do we use just the cat head? I think that's weird....

NCAA guidelines says the midfield logo can not go beyond the 2 hash marks, to make the full logo fit the Attack Cat would have to be shrunk down significantly to fit OHIO behind it and still fit between the hash marks. Although they might have planned on changing it at this point it looks like its staying the same.

I have mixed feelings about using the Attack Cat head without the OHIO lettering. On one hand I want brand consistency and the AC is never shown by itself, on the other hand having a recognizable logo without the name is a sign of growing national recognition. Boise State recently announced it was updating its midfield logo and it will now just ve the horse head, minus the name Boise State. BUT, on a third hand, the letters OHIO are so graphically strong as a logo that it doesn't make sense not to use it.
