Bill Brown passed away yesterday. Great player, coach, husband, father, grandfather and friend. A real inspiration how he battled diabetes and still coached almost to the end. He will be missed.

Bill was one of my favorite players to watch simply by the way he just seemed to glide on the court. I can still visualize his short jumpers when he seemed to just hang in the air forever. He was a junior my first year in school on the team that included Walt Luckett (a freshman too) and sophomore George Green. One of Ohio’s many good teams. Sadly we lost George a few years ago too.

Agree on his jumpers and how he just hung there. I remember playing pickup games in Grover and occasionally he'd jump in to play a bit. Ulice Payne was around then and who can forget Tommy Hester. I know he passed away a number of years ago but Tommy Hester could jump out of the gym. And I remember the PA guy back then saying "Basket Ball" when Dave Ball scored.

Ah yes. And, of course, “Bucket Luckett”. :)

Sad to hear this news. He was part of a very legendary period of OHIO basketball. The family will be in my prayers.

Bill had developed diabetes with complications with circulation. Then his wife passed away and the combination took much out of him. He had a son and a daughter and yes, let us all put them in our prayers so that the two of them and any of Bill's grand kids find peace.

I sure will remember my freshman year during Coach Snyder's farewell season when BGSU came to the Convo and though the Bobcats lost a very close one, Bill, the steady senior, shined throughout the game in front of a very large crowd.

Very sorry to hear this. Bill may have been the smoothest player on the court I've seen. Good guy and always with a quick smile when he infrequently returned to the Convo.
