Solid freshman numbers in a decent conference. Free throw shooting needs an upward trajectory. Great shot blocking numbers.

I went to see Walnut play Princeton tonight in a D1 sectional final and got a look at Tyler. Most places list him 6'9'' and I would put him in the vicinity of 215 to 220 lbs. Unpolished player, but the potential is there. I could see him topping out around 240 lbs in his senior year. He was guarded most of the night by our football signee Rodney Harris. I thought Rodney matched his physicality and did well to disrupt Tyler in the low post. Tyler still needs to work on some touch around the basket. But you can't coach size, and Tyler was just so much bigger than everyone else on the floor and it showed on the glass and defending the rim. A couple thunderous finishes above the rim late.

Goose egg from Princeton's Bowen Hardman, a senior signed with Ohio State. I don't know what the Buckeyes see in him. He can't create his own shot at this level and he's not knock down enough to be a spot shooter specialist at OSU. I definitely see him transferring down at some point. I hate to say that about a high school player, but that's what I see. We were Bowen's first offer, but I think now we're getting the better guards out of James, Brown, or Sheldon.

Princeton has a sophomore we should keep an eye on. Dorian Williams is ath-a-letic and physical. He kind of reminds me of Moss at Toledo. He went for 20+ tonight.

Tyler had 15 and 8 with four blocks in Walnut's district final loss to Fairfield. Reaction I've seen from multiple places say he doesn't get the ball nearly as much as he should. My childhood nextdoor neighbor runs a local AAU program and his reaction is "Walnut Hills Basketball player #35 Tyler McKinley, is a skilled 6'9" Sophomore. I believe he is a future NBA lottery pick!"

and... "After the game, I believe even more in this kid!
I saw him block numerous shots, post players up, make great passes, and saw him sit down in a defensive stance and D up a guard from Fairfield.
With about 30 seconds to go, he got a defensive rebound and went coast 2 coast to score a layup and put Walnut up 1.
And no today he isn't a lottery player, but his trajectory is heading that way!
Offensively, he can play old school back to the basket big, or position less player big.
His future is bright!"

@1 ranked junior in the state. I think he's the only Ohio kid ranked Top 50 nationally.
