Ohio Track & Field turned in a strong performance at the 2011 All-Ohio Championships placing fourth and attaining their best finish at the event since 2006. Ohio racked up 20 top-20 finishes with Kari Summers winning the 3000 meter steeplechase.

The steeplechase turned out to be Ohio's top event with four runners placing in the top 10 and Summers winning it. All four Bobcats ran PR's in the event with Summers finishing first and eclipsing the 11 minute mark. Melissa Thompson placed fourth, Ashley Waddington finished in eighth and Angela Klimkowski ended in 10th

Ohio also had a number of close calls with Annie Beecham in the 5000 meters, Juli Accurso in the 1500 and Lauren McCullough in the javelin. Accurso finished with a personal best time of 4:33.95 and was only two seconds away from winning the event for the Bobcats. McCullough just missed her personal best throw in the javelin by one meter and Beecham was seven seconds away from winning the 5000 for the Green & White.

Also in the 5000, Allison Stillwell placed sixth for Ohio. It was one of three events that a multiple number of Bobcats finished in the top 10. The final one turned out to be the 400 meters with Danielle Winningham and Kiley Mathews finishing sixth and seventh, respectively.

The Bobcats racked up a number of top-five finishes that earned them valuable points in the standings. Courtney Weiss was fourth in the 400 meter hurdles, missing her personal-best time by less than a second. Brittany Tyree finished fifth in the heptathlon and was helped by her second-place performance in the 800 meter portion of the event. Finally, the 4x4 relay team of Mathews, Kara Jackson, Weiss and Winningham finished third.

Other top-10 finishes in track events included Emily Pifer placing seventh in the 10000 meters, Kristi Sturges finishing eighth in the 100 meter hurdles and Hope McCarty achieving a new personal best with a time of 2:18.07 in the 800 meters.

The Bobcats also picked up four more top-10 finishes in the field. McCarty matched her season-best in the high jump and placed seventh. Emily Woods finished eighth in the discus, Alexis Geiger missed a PR in the long jump by .12 meters and Katie Eastman finished .43 meters shy of a personal best leap in the triple jump.

Ohio continues the outdoor season next weekend in Columbus at the prestigious Jesse Owens Classic on the Ohio State campus.
