I am afraid we are doomed to be watching shorter and shorter possessions with more turnovers, more bad shots, less strategy, less defense, more AAU type "scrimmages".....should I go on ? High School and the majority of college players do not have the skill sets to play in the NBA, or to play the way the game is played there, so I don't like the game that I see now. I don't think you even attempted to read the article he posted. This is all about fewer bad shots and more strategy. The mid-range jumper is a very inefficient shot on a points per possession basis so coaches like Fred Hoiberg are employing offenses based around layups and 3's only. Chris Mack even said part of their defensive strategy is to let their opponent take tough, long 2's. Proper spacing of guys scattered out around the 3 pt. line waiting for a kick out from a driviing 1 on 1 player is not what I consider basketball strategy that I enjoy seeing. That is where the game is headed, I don't argue that, I just don't like it. One solution would be to eliminate the three point shot, which I wouldn't object to. Something that might help is making the NBA three point shot standard at most levels. Guys driving baseline, hurtling out of bounds, and then whipping a long pass out to three point range is not my idea of aesthetically pleasing basketball. It sucks.
