Setty at point?

Would like to see Setty get more PT and one way would be move him to point. I know he's a forward, but he brings the ball up well, makes crisp passes and makes good decisions. He may be the best at the three combined that we have.

Setty is just not a point guard, doesn't have the ball skills especially under pressure. My question is why doesn't Stevie start at the 1 and let Bean play the 2?

IMHO the better ball movement today started when Stevie came into the game. I also like the minutes Harley got at the top against the zone.

can he grow a unibrow? we could have unibrow lite (very light)

setty got excited once today and brought the ball up the court after a rebound , the result was a turnover.. he was out of control and should have given the ball to bean ..

i love the fact that more players are getting more minutes ..

harley looked good today as well as setty ..

the cats are going a legit 8 deep now .. BANG !!

I don't know, I think Setty playing at the 4 is what makes his passing shine - he's a good interior passer (although he had a nice quick dish today from the outside) but move him to guard and his passing skills don't play up as much as they do at his current position.

There's a difference between bringing the ball up and the offense running through you. Much of the time in 93-95 the offense ran through Jeff Boals. No way do you have Setty bringing the ball up but I wouldn't mind setting him up at the top of the key and our half court offense running through him with Bean set up in the corner.

While I am sure the subject line was satire, I would add when Treg came in the second half his passing and energy thwarted the initial Emu comeback and helped us build then a nice 12+ point lead. Then, Raven went all Kretzger on us. Campbell and Taylor also made good passes against emu zone in 1H but Treg's passing and understanding of zone breaker appeared to me to be a step ahead of others. Stat line does not accurately reflect in assist column due to fouls on players he passed to, but 7pts , 6rbds and "4" assists very nice for ~15 minutes PT. PS while I am Treg-festing, his out of control fast break was anything but, as his pass to KH had some heat but was catchable for sure. Go Bobcats!!!

He has the 2nd highest turnover % on the team behind only Waldy.

He is a solid passer, but there are ways to get forwards involved in the offense as sort of a "point forward" that don't involve breaking a press or bringing the ball up the floor like a point guard would have to do.

This team struggles against a zone defense. In order to beat a zone, the ball has to get in the high post and the short corners. That is where Treg is a valuable part of the offense, not dribbling the ball up the floor. Tony did a terrific job of passing from the high post yesterday, which is exactly how to have success vs a 2/3 or 3/2 zone like we saw.

I didn't think I had to even at the surface of a 6'8" forward taking over the point...but I guess I would summarize by saying point guards should be in control, sure-handed, consistent. I love Treg but this does not describe him. Energy, fouls, rebounds, turnovers, and post-up hoops describes him. Treg himself would get a chuckle out of this idea.

Small forward Sonny Troutman once played the point but that was after our two point guards quit the team. Fears and Chatman in back to back seasons quit mid year. Coaching staff didn't have time to recruit a point guard as a backup, but Troutman the small forward was pressed into the point. He did a good job, but Setty doesn't have the skills Sonny had. Sonny was a great player and leader. He was one of those special players who could play almost any role on the team in his career. His three point barrage late against Miami in Cleveland one of the greatest performances in Ohio history.

Jeremy Fears -- a blast from the past. Does anyone recall exactly how he ended his collegiate playing career? I seem to remember he bounced around a few places, but I don't remember the details. Also, anyone know where he is now? The Jokester in me wants to say he's doing somersaults and cartwheels with Barnum and Bailey...
