He has the height and more importantly he has the smarts. Didn't see a smart inbound in the last minute of the game on our part. Tone should be the only one throwing it in when the game is on the line.

Impounding the ball vs Akron has been a problem for years especially in the MAC tournament.

We were saying the same thing in the chat.

Our inbound issues seem to be epidemic this season. Reminiscent of Larry Hunter teams. the issue is exacerbated by the tension late in today's game.

I agree Coleman . . . errr Campbell (making fun of myself here) should inbound the ball in crucial situations. On at least one of those attempted inbounds it should have been a called runout. He could hit a streaking Bean, for instance, under our basket for "first down."

To me there's not much a gap in the problem between Hunter and now.

I agree with the Campbell suggestion.

Then, of course you could try something like, say maybe a receiver come off a screen, and inbound passer be effin' ready when the whistle blows....... (duh)

I certainly don't feel great with Laster inbounding the ball.

We almost gave tonight's game away with poor inbounding plays, but I'm not going to complain since I'm still riding high on Campbell to N'Dour to the rim.

What a day at the Convo.....Wow!

Laster didn't inbound. It was Ryan Taylor after repeated failed efforts w Stevie. And Ryan's effort failed, too. BUT he did come through with good defense on the last play to save the game.

Agree with last point, Jeff. It was as if Taylor, a frosh, anticipated the senior Ibatayo spinning toward the lane and was able to defend without fouling.

Inbounds plays were also an adventure under Christian and Groce.

The problem isn't just with who is inbounding the ball. The other guys have to work hard to give the inbounder a passing lane. I think this falls back into the basketball instincts we fall short on.

I agree. There didn't seem to be too much moving on the part of the team. And why was there no sprinting down the court by at least one player? Didn't need the basket but it could have killed time with the rest of the players coming up court.

I just can't believe we don't have a better press breaker than what we saw last night.

I don't remember that with Groce... Seemed far more often that we were the team that was giving other teams fits on inbound plays under JG.

We lost an early game under Groce at home against Ball State, I believe, in which we threw away 2 inbounds attempts. I believe the last was a turnover by DJ Cooper. Same sort of situation as last night.

Man you got a short or selective memory.

We pissed down our legs many times. Groce insisted on DJ being the trigger. SO many times we should have had DJ on the floor getting free.

Biggest problem we had back then was guys not executing or not knowing/retaining the plays.

Ah yes, you are correct.

On the bright side at least we didn't get called for any 5 second violations! Bean had that smart timeout when he couldn't get the ball inbounds.

Granted it was high school then 10 years later city league ball, but I always took the ball out. At 6'5" there are things that you can see. But more importantly I think you need a quarterback mentality to inbounds the ball. You need to see lots of options if the designed play doesn't work.

Thank You. I'm getting old but the memory of so many effed up inbounds plays over the years is hard to forget. I get nervous on any critical inbounds play. As I said above - Not much of a gap with the issue from Hunter through JC.
