been bouncing around different fanbases and websites during this time off. THis morning I listened to a rep talk about his frat brothers at IU asking me about Crean. Seems they all want him gone and Brad Stevens brought back. After listening to an A&M grad talking about Matta not winning anything and getting beat in CHicago on top of the Illini board talking about the hot seat under Groce's butt. I had enough of BIG talk.

I stopped him mid sentence and asked what they were all smoking and how they all expected to end up. He said Final Four on a regular basis. I said you all know the landscape has changed and IU may not be a blueblood anymore....that mid majors with 4 year program guys have a good chance of success while IU fans complain about missing on 5 stars and burger boys. I stopped and asked him if his frat bros understood that there is only one BIG champ each year and only 4 teams make the Final FOur... I surely hope through 3 coaching changes and personnel issues we do not become Butler and an expectation of beating everyone in the Big East, PAC12 and BIG is tempered with the vision of being a really top of the heap MAC program that makes the tourney and advances a round or 2 on a fairly regular basis. I love this program and support it but we are not going to in the FF on a regular basis.

never argue with idiots, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

With the amount of money we are spending I expect Ohio to be top 3 in the MAC every year. There are caveats however. I didn't expect it this year because of the coaching turnover. I was hoping that we would be better than we are this year but that's on me. I do expect us to be better at the end of February than we are right now (barring injuries). Obviously this has been tough watching this year based on what we have seen the last five years but it is understandable. But there are also nuggets out there that point to better days. Ryan Taylor and Mike Laster are solid building blocks. Tony Campbell is showing that he can be a really good front line player. Keeping my fingers crossed that Simmons is going to be the guy that pulls all these guys together because if Kaminski is what he is supposed to be we are going to be good again sooner than later.

Well, if Ohio doesn't win a MACC within the next 10 years, Monroe will have a cow! :)

That would be "another" cow.

A tall guy who could Kaminski bang the three ball makes yesterday vs. 'braska an entirely different game.

Campbell is obviously in a wholly different shape/condition than the day he joined the team. Can he develop to the driven/cut physique and hustle akin to what DeVaughn became? DeVaughn became a real pillar.

I'm not sure I'd compare Tony to DW in terms of athleticism, but the production he can bring I think could end up being better. Tony seems to be quite a natural rebounder.

Most fans think that if the coach makes big money, then final four is the expectation. Not reasonable, but it's out there.

I'll take Van's opinion a step further and say I would "hope" we could be Top 2 in the MAC every year and regularly on the cusp of NCAA Tournament bids even if we don't win the MAC.

Hear me out. I know the MAC is not on par with other conferences to where that is even a possibility. But we're investing in the program to a point where maybe we can start thinking about it. Of course this year wasn't going to happen that way. Once Saul gets his program in place and we start winning big games, I would think we could get on that level. Obviously the OOC would have to change to get the RPI up and we would also need to win some of those to even think about an automatic bid. The early season tournaments are a great start in getting the Ohio name out there.

Other than hoping and wishing we could be that, I guess my expectations are at least a Top 4 MAC team (depending on the year and what other teams in conference are good) and at the very least a MAC Tournament semifinal berth.
