Per WOUB, Stewart will be an associate HC under Heath Schroyer, who Anthony worked under at Wyoming from 2007-11.

Didn't someone suggest the possibility of one of Christian's ACs going to UTM several months ago?

Anthony Stewart to UT-Martin has been posted on this board earlier.  But thanks for the confirmation from WOUB.

Since he was not retained by the new staff and had nothing to do with Christian leaving I'd like to thank coach Stewart for his work at Ohio and wish him the best.

How can you blame an asst coach for leaving to go to another job?  Sure it sucks he had our best connections with recruits, but come on....

What recruits?  75% of them left.

They left because he left. It seems like he was the main recruiter on almost every recruit during the JC era.

WIlkins, Setty, Ndour, Owens, Nehemias-Morillo. Probably more too, but those are just the ones we know about.

Don't forget about Bean and Khari Harley. Stewart basically brought in every recruit during JC's two year stay. That is a fact!!!!!

I thought I had read somewhere he was heading to UT-M before Coach Phillips was even hired.  But I agree, good luck to him.

Yes.  It was first reported on the 4th.  Saul was hired on the 6th.  Stewart knew he was not going to be taken to BC (or didn't want to go with JC*).  Knew he was not going to be head coach at Ohio AND he is smart enough to know he was not going to get first chair - Saul (or whoever) would bring someone with them for that position.  And, he had no assurance of even getting second chair (nor would he probably want it).  So his old mentor reaches out and offers Associate HC position.  Of course he moves on.  No brainer - and no one can legitimately be upset at him for moving on - or blame him for the recruits not following their LOIs.  Have an issue with it?  take it up with Schaus.  He could have insisted that the new HC keep Stewart as first chair - but then that demand could have driven off candidates.

* If I'm Stewart, I'm probably tired of carrying JC's recruiting water anyway.

Sometimes there's more to these situations than meets the eye.

True - As I said, such  a decision may have impacted the ability to get Saul - and I doubt there is anyone that would have given up on his selection.  With the exception of baseball coach   Schaus appears to have his finger on the pulse - so I'll defer to his decision-making and overall management.

Stewart was an amazing recruiter. Got Warren Harding first team all-state performer Desmar Jackson to commit to Wyoming where he was a Freshman All-American. Desmar then followed "Stew" to SIU. Finished up his eligibility this past season.
