Thought we were far enough in to take a look at the top freshmen in the conference this year. I did a cursory glance through the teams and these are the freshmen playing decent minutes (about 8-ish per game / playing in most games) that I spotted. I tried not to include transfers in as I don't remember them being eligible for Freshman of the year last year. If I missed anyone of note, let me know and I can add them. Stats below are per game averages sorted by minutes per game for each team. Accurate thru games on 12/19.

Tavari Johnson (Akron) - 8.1 Pts, 1.8 Reb, 1.9 Ast in 16.7 Mins

Anthony McComb III (Bowling Green) - 2.4 Pts, 1.6 Reb, 0.5 Ast in 12.9 Mins
Willie Lightfoot (Bowling Green) - 4.3 Pts, 1.2 Reb, 1.9 Ast in 12.5 Mins

Isaac Jack (Buffalo) - 4.8 Pts, 3.2 Reb, 0.1 Ast in 15.2 Mins
Devin Ceaser (Buffalo) 5.4 Pts, 0.8 Reb, 0.5 Ast in 7.5 Mins

Reggie Bass (Central Michigan) - 10.5 Pts, 3.7 Reb, 2.8 Ast in 27.8 Mins
Max Majerle (Central Michigan) - 3.9 Pts, 2.1 Reb, 0.4 Ast in 16.2 Mins
Ola Ajiboye (Central Michigan) - 2.6 Pts, 3.2 Reb, 0.7 Ast in 14.1 Mins

Legend Geeter (Eastern Michigan) - 6.8 Pts, 4.9 Reb, 0.8 As in 24.4 Mins
Orlando Lovejoy (Eastern Michigan) - 6.0 Pts, 1.9 Reb, 0.8 Ast in 21.3 Mins

Julius Rollins (Kent State) - 1.6 Pts, 2.4 Reb, 0.8 Ast in 10.6 Mins
Delrecco Gillespie (Kent State) - 4.5 Pts, 2.7 Reb, 0.0 Ast in 8.1 Mins

Billy Smith (Miami) - 9.9 Pts, 4.2 Reb, 0.9 Ast in 31.0 Mins
Ryan Mabrey (Miami) - 8.3 Pts, 2.1 Reb, 1.2 Ast in 25.1 Mins
Eli Yofan (Miami) - 3.5 Pts, 2.1 Reb, 1.4 Ast in 14.3 Mins
Jaquel Morris (Miami) - 1.3 Pts, 2.5 Reb, 0.9 Ast in 11.8 Mins
Mitchell Rylee (Miami) - 2.0 Pts, 1.8 Reb, 0.2 Ast in 7.3 Mins

Armandas Plintauskas (Northern Illinois) - 4.9 Pts, 2.0 Reb, 0.6 Ast in 15.0 Mins
Xavier Amos (Northern Illinois) - 3.3 Pts, 3.1 Reb, 0.6 Ast in 14.7 Mins

AJ Brown (Ohio) - 11.3 Pts, 1.7 Reb, 0.7 Ast in 19.7 Mins
Aidan Hadaway (Ohio) - 3.3 Pts, 2.1 Reb, 0.2 Ast in 10 Mins
Elmore James (Ohio) - 4.3 Pts, 1.1 Reb, 0.4 Ast in 9.1 Mins

JaVaughn Hannah (Western Michigan) - 5.5 Pts, 3.5 Reb, 0.7 Ast in 23.4 Mins
Jefferson Monegro (Western Michigan) - 5.9 Pts, 1.5 Reb, 2.5 Ast in 21.7 Mins
Seth Hubbard (Western Michigan) - 6.2 Pts, 2.2 Reb, 1.3 Ast in 20.5 Mins

Toledo and Ball State didn't really show any freshman playing a lot.

If he doesn't get too disheartened being at Miami, Billy Smith looks like a future killer. Guy can stroke the three.

Bass at CMU is not a surprise. He turned down a handful of P5 offers.

Agreed Shab. If I had to vote right now I'd go AJ Brown, Reggie Bass, Billy Smith, Tavari Johnson and Legend Geeter for my first team all Freshman.

Note: Legend Geeter was a transfer from Providence, but did not play any games so I am assuming he'd be eligible.

Maybe include Ajay Sheldon on the list for the Bobcats?

He has played all 12 games and is averaging more minutes (10.3) than Hadaway or Elmore. Has more steals (6) than turnovers (5) and dished out 14 assists (a good assist to turnover ratio). Hitting 50% on threes, but only 1-7 from the line?! That has to be a rare stat combo.

Muncie kid. Bass.

Took off for prep after his frosh HS year and then bounced from there to come back to Indy for his Sr yr. after several P5s offered and retracted. Got potential. Looked good v Mich

I still don’t u understand what the coaching staff did with Frazier last year. It was odd, I have watched numerous John Carroll games and the kid is doing everything for them. He definitely would be playing a major role for us.

I agree, because there is literally no difference between the OAC and the MAC. Both leagues have teams in Ohio.

Anyone think Hadaway sticks around with his minutes diminished? Only 9 total minutes since Florida game.

In MAC only action looks like 6'4"guard Javaughn Hannah of Western Michigan off to a nice start and the leading freshman scorer. He hit for 24 points against BG today. He is shooting 49% from the floor, 64% from behind the line and is 8 of 8 from the charity stripe!

Not many assists but no TO's either with a couple of steals and playing 25 minutes a game in the MAC seasons first four games.
