That was my first thought when I saw JC potentially leaving.  3 coaches in 4 years would be tough.  The good news with Stevie is that he seems to truly love OHIO.  I don't expect a change (if one happens) to effect the level of effort and swagger that he plays with.

Am I missing something?  I don't feel badly for Stevie.  I felt worse for him last year when it looked like Bean was being handed the job or when he broke his leg just when he had secured a firm hold on the job. But Stevie stared down that challenge much like I'm sure he stares down most things.  From what I can tell he's got a great attitude and will roll with the punches.

Yeah, that's tough, but I feel worse for the younger guys that JC personally made promises to - like last month.

I think the players need more consideration when this stuff happens. Something akin to a union, maybe?

Actually this would potentially be good for Stevie. Bean was JC's recruit and we all know how coaches love their own guys.

If we end up with a new coach then Stevie and Bean are back on an even playing field and Stevie has the chance to recapture the starting PG job.

I don't tweet very much, but I do have an account.  I just sent Stevie a Bobcat Nation love note.  What a great kid!

It kind of looks like he was sick / in pain all day.  I could be wrong but I don't think he was alluding to the JC rumors.

I've felt bad for him ever since I noticed JG efforts and picks have left Stevie's class bare of fellow recruits--I'd think it rather sad to go through life after Athens with no other 4 year guy to hash over the memories.. How many years back do you have to go in Bobcat basketball to find only one four year guy from a class?  While I have numerous active friends in classes above and below me, there really are none as close as the guys you start and finish with.

The 2011 class was just Washington and Freeman.  The only recruit that came in with Stevie was Tyquane Goard, who left under Groce.  Kind of silly to pin that on JC.

with 20 wins next year Stevie Taylor will become the winningest player in program history. And he'll have done it with 3 different coaches.

KVK?

KVK came in the same year as Asown Sayles, but Sayles red-shirted in the middle of his career and ended up staying 5 years.

As the only 4th Year Senior (four years in Athens) next season, Stevie has a tremendous opportunity to step us as the leader of the team on and off the court.  Stevie who has tremendous passion about life, his school and his teammates, now he has a coach in Saul Phillips who has the same type of passion.  After watching Stevie the past three years and meeting his parents this past season, I have no doubt that Stevie is up to the challenge and will have a great senior season.

I am so happy for ST.....this is like manna from heaven.

I watched how Coach put hte ball in the hands of his player to win the SUmmit Championship. Kid had been AWOL most of the half and Coach just said ....do it. Kid responded with a huge drive and finish down the right side of the lane. His kids buy in at a high level. For the same reasons I liked the 08 hire I like this one. I love coaches that are invested in their kids.

If I had a cahnce to talk to ST I would deliver the same message I did to my own kid. I went down to Athens July 3rd with a handful of research on Groce and Holtmann. TOmmy had seen Rhodes off on Wednesday and before taking an accounting mid term the morning of the 3rd he had stayed in Kuwick's office helping him clean stuff out till 2 am. I met him at COurtside and had a pizza and a couple of beers, maybe it was a couple of pitchers... I said "son, if you can't play for these guys you either don't want to play or do not understand basketball" as I felt JG and CH were  a tailor made situation that would help his game.

I would say the same to ST..... this coach is going to put the ball in his hands and make him a better player. When we were in the COnvo shooting the morning of the 4th, both coaches walked in and talked for an hour. Instant change in attitude as he saw what I was talking about. I hope ST has the same situation come Tuesday.

ST has some summer work. Better handles, ,more pace and control and fix up the long ball while continuing to improve his finish at the rim. He is a really really good fit with this coach. I am very happy that his Senior year sees this change. I hope he communicates with coach immediately and puts this team on his back. Go get em Stevie....make the most of what the man upstairs gives ya.

never argue with idiots, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Winter comes and asks how you spent your summer.....

The game loves and rewards those who love and reward the game
