Kind of out turn on the timing of this post, but it's come to mind 100x and it's come to mind again these past few days.  Jason Arkley's stuff is just great!  As a Bobcat fanatic, his work is outstanding to read.  Have only met him once for a few moments, but I really appreciate the insight/perspective he gives to Bobcat fans.  Add him to the team with Russ & Rob and they really make the 12 month Ohio Athletic experience even more enjoyable.  Great job guys!

Agree CG! Jason has been very candid and thoughtful thru this , once again , coaching change. I'm feeling pretty blindsided , but getting used to it. How boring would it be to not need a new HC now and then?... Trust in our AD once again, reassure our players and incoming recruits, this is The Ohio we all stand for and will be here , this job comes with a strong fan base, we are very resilient . Never count us out.

Second that emotion. The media here has blossomed in the last 10-years and our media presence is stellar both in print and airwaves.

I have turned many fans at away games onto our radio/ web and social media presence that was not here in 07.

Appreciate what the guys do on a shoestring. We are well getting our money's worth.

Hopefully the fanbase does not have to deal with losing Russ or Jason. I know the Star Press here in Muncie has gone through ups and downs with a revolving door of reporters and beat writers and with MOrrie off the air has had to adapt to a new crew of announcers.

I echo CG's kudos.

Totally agree with George. Arkley is great, Ohio is lucky to have him reporting. Especially when I've soured a bit on The Post's reporting, or 'reporting' of late, for a number of reasons. They've got a good writer to learn from in Athens.

Agreed, Arkley is top notch.

Funny, yesterday Arkley was the first to break the news that the hire was official but our own conference's media Director tweets out the announcement and links and article from ESPNBoston instead of Jason's. what a tool. Arkley called him out on it.

Couldn't agree more on all fronts.  Very thankful to have Jason (and Russ and Rob) here in Athens.

Yeah, I appreciate Arkley's work...so much so that I finally subscribed to the Mess online...

Goes without saying that we are tremendously blessed with our broadcast media at Ohio.  We have what you'd get at a high major school.  On a much lower budget.  Russ and Rob and everyone else who contributes, thanks.

Yes a million times yes!!!

I remember way back starving for any type of Ohio news, one reason I found this site many years ago. But with Arkley I am getting my fill of news and updates. Following him on twitter is awesome during games when the Bobcats are not on TV since I can very rarely find time to make a trip back to Athens.

Arkley is incredibly good, and would be for any size market. It's amazing luck that we have such a strong beat writer and radio crew, particularly considering what I know (from painful experience) those kind of gigs pay.

On a separate note, I know it's popular blood sport around here to beat up on the Post, but I always cringe a little when we go from constructive criticisms to blanket condemnations. I never worked at the Post when I was in school, but I worked on other publications and projects and made plenty of mistakes. The Post is a daily grind for young students who are still learning. I try to cut them a lot of slack, and I try to be specific and helpful when I criticize anything they do.

I thought Arkley's column on Christian today was some of the best sports writing I've seen this year.  Intelligent, well written, it's better than virtually all of the work done by columnists at the P,D., and much of what I read in the Dispatch.  Those who like his work should take a few minutes to email or tweet him and show him some love...

Yeah there needs to be some bonuses or incentives built in there to keep this status quo. Everyone needs that.....

I've shown Arkley's stuff with a buddy who works at the PD and he has been impressed as well.  In truth, he really need to be (if he is not in fact doing so) focusing on moving up to a bigger/better gig or he might get stuck here.  He's much too good to be mired in such a small market.

You are so correct Jeff. Russ and Rob would fit right in at any high major and the fans would be glad to have them. They do an outstanding job. They are both employees of O.U. I believe Rob is part time. Russ on the other hand is full time. Considering the fact that Russ is paid about the same amount as the custodian that works at the convo we are very lucky to still have him.

Not much more to add to the Arkley "love fest."  Agree on all counts.

I like how much leeway Russ and Rob (especially) are given on the air. Rob's takes on opposing coaches and players are what fans used to get in great notes columns in the newspapers — tidbits and general vibes from around the conference that only come with paying attention really closely.

As for Arkley, I'm grateful his stuff runs in the APExchange website. The first things I look for when I get into the office every morning.

He appears to be in corporate communications in Charlotte...
