Been an interesting 72 hours.  Did not see this coming a week ago.  That said, the sky is not falling.  Not even from a Bobcat basketball perspective.  JC is gone.  We'll be fine.  Owens is not going to come here.  As someone else mentioned, he has Three Men and a Truck on speed dial.  So be it.

Other dominoes to fall.  They usually do in this case.  And my bet is that Mo does not return.  I can't think of a compelling reason for him to.  Why spend his last year of eligibility learning a new system.  His best basketball move is to transfer (to BC or another major program), sit out the year (which he probably needs to get enough credits to graduate and to beef up) and then use a year of play in the ACC (e.g.,)  to audition for scouts.  He is used to being a nomad, so change of scenery is not uncomfortable for him.   So after drooling over the prospect of Mo and Owens being on the court at the same tie, my bet is we have neither next year.

And the sky is still not falling.  In fact, it is an opportunity.  An opportunity to reload on a coach.  In my opinion (simply my opinion) a mid-major (Ohio) is best served by a coach that is electric, passionate, takes up the oxygen in a room.  Groce did this.  Nee did this.  When we hired JC we went (for good reason) in another direction.  The attempt for stability at a high level.  It made sense given the team make-up.  And was working.  But it takes two to tango and JC cut out.  So now let's get back to the right DNA for Ohio.  Boals, nice guy, smart, but more of a chemistry teacher than pied piper.  Dustin?  I'll defer to others....especially Schaus.

Tough year or two coming up?  Sure.  But then I wore a basketball on my head at games until January of my sophomore year until Nee got his first win.  Two years later he was handing me a commemorative mug celebrating an NCAA Dance season.

And you know what?  It'll be fun, because we all like the journey as much as we like the win.  That is one of the reasons this past year's team was so embraced - they fought to the end.  And next year, when Stevie, Setty, hopefully Ric and whomever else are out there, you can be sure SBH, Love and others will be in their black seats and the O-Zone will have the teams' back.

The sky is not falling,  The sky is the limit at Ohio.  And every potential candidate know that.

Mo is a nice player and seems like a great guy, but I highly doubt there's about to be a line of coaches begging a guy with one year of eligibility and back problems to take one of their scholarships.

Who can't agree on a replacement?  This board?  That's cause for concern?  I trust Schaus.

Shame - hope you are right about Mo.

I'm sorry but why do people keep citing this as a reason for him to leave?  He's going to have to learn a new system whereever he goes!!! The only reason to leave before a new coach is hired is a gut reaction because you feel scorned. I know these are kids, but Good God, even when I was 18 I didn't make decisions this impetuously.

The parallel would be for him to redshirt at Ohio next year while bulking up and learning a new system.
