I will stake my reputation as Monroe's least favorite poster that JC will NOT be going to BC…and will be getting an extension and raise at Ohio within next 24 hours.

Hmmmm, very interesting.  If true, one sure can't say Schaus and Ohio didn't step up to the plate when needed.

I thought he did that when they hired Christian?

I'll welcome JC back (though he didn't go anywhere) with open arms if he remains Ohio's coach.  However, I hope he doesn't get rewarded with either a raise or extension for flirting.  I remain confident he can do well at Ohio, but cannot justify  this situation prompting us to change his initial salary/term.  He inheritied a Sweet 16 team and though probably not all his fault, the team underwhelmed.  And while I commend the patchwork job they did this past year, neither of the first two seasons warrant a raise IMO.  Achieve the vision, you will be rewarded, but the past two years + flirtation doesn't equal getting a reward in my opinion.

For sure.  Is it bad of me to admit my man-crush of Schaus?  He's by far the best AD Ohio's had in awhile.

That being said, watch, JC does go to BC.  Even if he does, I have faith Schaus has a very good list of possible replacements.

UNLESS:  What if he gets "rewarded" while the contract buyout also gets larger?

I agree. I will be more depressed if we lose Schaus than any of our coaches. And I will be plenty bummed if we lose Christian (even though I was only lukewarm to the hire in the first place).

My gut from the start is NO on JC to BC. Feeling less sure the more and more I hear about "sources" but I am sticking with my gut. NO DEAL.

I've seen crazier things happen.

Regrettably, I side with SBH's thought that it's unlikely JC will leave.  (Which is not nearly the genius thought that certain shippy seem to think it is.)

Complaining because JC is testing the waters?  Both JC and Schaus would not be doing their jobs and protecting their own self-interests if they did not listen to / prepare for   these things.

Vulture count 157.  Pitiably..miserably low, I gotta think.  For the fondness most alumni have of their time in Athens, something needs to be better.  Alum Relations office has work to do.  Alumni base has to stop up.

157.  Is that server crashing level support?

I have to disagree on the low vulture count, Monroe.  I think 157 during the middle of the work day is pretty good.  Please keep in mind a lot of employers have Internet filters that prohibit employees from looking at sites like this during the work day.

Besides, seriously how many alumni even know this site exists?  I never knew such a thing existed (as I seriously thought I was one of only a few alumni way into Ohio athletics) until I met two fellow alums on the plane from Cleveland to Mobile for the GMAC Bowl.  I don't know about when you were there Monroe but I can tell you from '81 to '85 Ohio was NOT in any way, shape or form a sports-minded college (heck, Danny Nee used to go to the bars to try and drum up student support).  And from what I see now (daughter's a senior there), while athletics is certainly more prominent part of campus life now than it has been for a long time, it's still not a sports-minded college and neither are most of the students there.  I've long come to realize that on a day-to-day basis only a very small fraction of all Ohio alumni even follow Ohio sports in some form or fashion.  And that's OK-was part of the charm about Ohio to me.

So I think those of us that even know of this messageboard (or even care) are in reality few and far between.

Does Bobcatattack have a marketing budget?  We should buy some advertising at games...spread the word...

I understand, Mark.  But no matter the reason, the vulture count is low.  Compare 157 vultures to what it would be at major colleges--work filters or not--should rumors like this JC business be flying.  Mobile devices are huge these days--what all the facebooks and twitters are chasing..  Employers pretty much don't stop mobile.

We need to work to match our aspirations (high) with our reality (not so high, unfortunately).

Also, my understanding is that some of the vulture count comes from web bots.

Do you count as a vulture if you are here anyway?

Entertaining.

Hope JS is getting his list together.

I would be disappointed with an extension and a raise. Not cool IMHO.

TOS had one foot out the door at all times and was lambasted for it. Now JC has done the same. Life keeps presenting lessons till you learn them.....must be RI.

I think it is time for a visionary that keeps the ball rolling. Hate seeing that progress and direction this program was heading slip away.
