Chromecast has worked great for me all games viewed with this year except for Can't. Anyone else? Any ideas why the issues were just this game? Lot's of MACbuffering, to just plain no connection at all......................

It wasn't Chromecast. It was the feed.

Chromecast worked for me during the Kent game - both the ESPN3 feed and the MAC Sports feed. I ended up switching over to the MAC sports feed late in the second half due to buffering with ESPN, but both were working for me.

So far a great investment (especially at $35)!

There is a Google Chrome Cast extension that you can download and add to the Chrome browser.

Info here - https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/3212008?hl=en

With this you can send anything you have open in the Chrome browser to your TV.

I can do this from both my desktop computer or my laptop, but for me have found it works best with my laptop.

I could already stream Netflix etc through my blu-ray player. I bought the Chrome cast specifically to watch OU games via webcast easily on my TV. I've watched the last two games with it, and for me it works great!

Thanks for the information...I have dusted off the laptop and installed the chrome extension to the chrome browser and will give it a test run tomorrow.

I just wish the extension was supported by my android 4.1.2 version....(phone and tablet)

I guess the Chrome cast extension is still in beta testing. I too hope they work out a fix for phones and tablets. I've got to think they are moving in that direction, but we'll see...

Figured this is as good a place as any to ask: Anyone know how soon after games that replays are available through ESPN3? I'm going to be out of my house during the game today, and I can't DVR the TV broadcast because I'm a Uverse subscriber and don't get the TWC channel.

I was blacked out of the ESPN 3 Kent State broadcast so I watched it on the MAC website.

I re-watched the game that night on the TV/XBox via ESPN 3 app after the game ended.

Can't remember the exact time, but I'm thinking it was probably around 1-1.5 hours after the game ended when I re-watched it.  I would imagine they are "archiving" the game as it's going on and have them ready to go pretty quick after the game ends.

So I gave this a try based on the information here and it works great. I've got the game on a PC and "Chromecast" it to the TV.

Only problem I've got is with ESPN blacking out the game (Akron) even though I don't get TWC Sports so I've got no way to get it except through school web cast. And it is currently awful ... All washed out.

Posted this in another thread but thought I would get it over here on the bball board too.

Read a nice CHromecast review today. For those on the fence or who are consumers researching the purchase and those who own it and have not yet set up ....it is a pretty good starting point.

When you click on the game link on ESPN3, it pops up a new window with the game feed that is missing the Chrome Cast icon.

Just simply copy that web link and paste it into your normal Google Chrome browser that has the Chrome Cast icon.

Nice how we "project" our team and institution with these feeds. Raider Nation board game thread was full of disparaging remarks per our feed - the final one:

I'd like to take this opportunity to tell OU that their broadcast sucked ass and they should be ashamed they even streamed it. Content aside, what a f'ing joke. Perhaps they're still using 14.4 modems for internet access in Athens...

Uh, I think all of us who have watched the feed from Athens this year feel just the way the Raider fans do.  To put it simply: it is an embarrasment in this day and age that this is the best OU can do.

once again, please direct constructive criticism to tanner. He seems to think it is fine. It is not fine and needs to be upgraded.  raider nation told us how they felt,  they are in that position with horizon tv. They have a good perspective and their expectations are in line with what we should be minimally expecting. we are on the upswing as a fanbase and needd to be responsive with the feeds

Who typically represents the university at the caravan events around the state in the spring? Any reps who would be in position to do something about the feed?

Seems to me the people who attend those events - Ohio fans who live outside of Athens - would be the ones most interested in a quality feed. I wouldn't mind attending and giving my $0.02 (and letting them know I'd be happy to give a lot more than 2 real cents if that's what it takes to make a high-quality stream happen).

Schaus - and head coaches. There is always time for open questions for all after they speak to the attending group. Maybe we need to ask each and all of them (and look at reaction on Schaus' face when JC and Solich are asked the question).

What was up with there not being any play by play audio for the WSU game in the feed?

I synced the game up using the call in option. They had Russ and Rob in the feed for the Cleveland State, why not this last game (and why the open mic just picking up nearby fans)?

Message Not Read  Horrible CIT feed needs high level attention
   Posted: 3/24/2014 12:59:46 PM
Given that we have one of the finest broadcast journalism majors in the country, I am amazed at the difference in the quality of the streaming broadcast done by VMI and the one done by OHIO.   The VMI broadcast was done in HD and the feed came through perfectly.  We should be able to get an upgrade done ASAP and avoid the huge embarassment of a sub-standard broadcast.   We like broadcasting these games and tournaments to give greatercoverage to OHIO to attract new students and bring positive attention to OHIO.  It is counterproductive to marketing to have such a horrible feed.  Not only is the feed poor, but there is no time clock embedded in the broadcast picture.  While we had a scoreboard for the regular season games, there was none for the CIT feed.  The feed for Wright State lacked an audio.   Get an HD feed, if that takes a new camera, buy it. The broadcast booth provides excellent play by play when part of the feed.  The technology for broadcasting the feed and the end result does not live up to the high standards of OHIO.  President, McDavis, AD Schaus, Board Chairwoman  Sandra Anderson, let's make it happen.  Let's get an immediate fix on this problem.
