I'm still firmly against them, but I've come to accept that there have been worse decisions in the history of sports and sports marketing.

You're against them because…?

I'm not against them, I'm just on the fence about it being a good place from which to view the game.  Having not sat in them I can't definitively say, but I would think it would be similar to being sideline for a football game...cool to be at field level but not really able to see all the action.

(I'm speaking of the seats at the ends of the floor)

The concern I had with the Bobcat Black seat from the start was that it would hurt our home court atmosphere. Having the students on the court is about more than giving students a good seat... The O Zone being right on the court creates a huge homecourt advantage and equally important it creates the feeling of a high-major atmosphere.

That high-major feel to the Convo is everything. I know that many on this board (including myself) really got "hooked" by Ohio Athletics because of the feel games in the Convo have.

The black seats being there moves the cheerleaders which has absolutely made it more difficult for them to consistently start cheers. However, that is just something that is going to take time to improve. There have still been some "high major atmosphere" games even with the Black Seats (Akron and Toledo)

Also controversial was the move of the 110 into the O Zone from the end zone... That combined with the black seats has really worked well. With less seats in the bleachers along with increased student interest, the O Zone has basically become the entire lower bowl on that side down from press row. That is great. If the O Zone can coordinate with the 110 better, it has the potential to be louder than ever even with the black seats replacing the cheerleaders.

I've seen crazier things happen.

Football is better to watch from 15-50 rows up from the field. Basketball is awesome to watch as close as you can get. Until you are are that close, you just don't have a feel for how fast and physical the game is.

I can assure you that they offer an excellent view of the action.

I've sat in them. They are worth it. And totally different perspective than football.

These seats are eventually how you get more alumni to donate to the AD. A courtside seat at a big-time game in the Convo is a huge perk. I'm not necessarily a fan of the table you have to sit at, but that just provides more advertising revenue.

I kind of agree with Optimist that it takes away somewhat from the O Zone's impact. But honestly, that's more on the O Zone than it is on the seats. Those people sitting in front of you are just as into the game as you are. GET AGITATED.

So what is the next step?  We need to keep generating more revenue.  Here are some options, I'd be interested in people's thoughts:

- Raise ticket prices in big money seats.....demand, demand, demand
- Move the O-Zone....this should never happen.  They pay more than most fans.
- Seats/suites behind the hoop.  Sell these to groups, provide food.  Just like football.
- VIP Sections:  Example: All you can eat.
- Renovations....unrealistic too much money.

I'd vote to raise some ticket prices and suites behind the hoop.  I would also vote for a ticket exchange program where fans can buy unused expensive tickets.  Fans earn points, athletics gets the money.
