Thought we could use a thread to keep updates on individual record/rankings achievements this season.

Points Scored:
*Nick Kellogg passed 1,000 points earlier this season, and 23 players since going over 1,000.
If he keeps up his current scoring average he has a shot at making the top 15.

        12. Tim Joyce - 1,468
        13. Nick Kellogg - 1,449
        14. Steve Esterkamp - 1,405
        15. Sanjay Adell - 1,381
        16. Curtis Simmons - 1,353
        17. Robert Tatum - 1,348
        18. Vic Alexander - 1,323
        19. Gerald McKee - 1,310
        20. Kirk Lehman - 1,297
        21. Sonny Troutman - 1,272
        22. Don Hilt - 1,252
        23. Jerry Jackson - 1,205
        24. Bunk Adams - 1,196
        25. John Canine - 1,149
        26. Reggie Keely - 1,131
        27. Frankie Baumholtz - 1,096
        28. Lewis Geter - 1,092
        29. Fred Moore - 1,088
        30. Tommy Freeman - 1,071
        31. Ivo Baltic - 1,066
        32. DeVaughan Washington - 1,061
        33. Ken Kowall - 1,042
        34. Jason Terry - 1,008
        34. Jim Betts - 1,008
        35. George Green - 1,003

Blocks:

Jon Smith is 2 blocks away from joining the top 5 all-time at Ohio.  So far this season Jon has passed Gary Trent, Reggie Keely, "Big" John Rhodes and Leon Williams to move to #4.  Jon is now at #18 all-time in the MAC .

        1. Jason Terry - 262
        2. John Devereaux - 260
        3. Patrick Flomo - 222
        4. Jon Smith - 147
        5. Leon Williams - 138
        6. John Rhodes - 122

Games Started:

*Nick Kellogg has passed Dustin Ford, Jerome Tillman, Sonny Troutman, Geno Ford, Brandon Hunter and Leon Williams to reach #3 so far this season.  If he starts the rest of the games this season he should end up at #2 all-time

        1. D.J. Cooper - 139
        2. Nick Kellogg - 134
        3. Leon Williams - 127
        4. Brandon Hunter -118
        5. Geno Ford -113
        6. Sonny Troutman -110

3 point Field Goals Made:
*Nick Kellogg has moved from #7 to #1 already this season.  He is now also the all-time MAC leader in 3 pt field goals made.

        1. Nick Kellogg - 290
        2. D.J. Cooper - 274
        3. Tommy Freeman - 259
        4. Dave Jamerson - 239
        5. Steve Esterkamp - 204

3 point Field Goals Attempted:
*Nick Kellogg has passed Geno Ford, Steve Esterkamp, Dave Jamerson, Tommy Freeman  & Gus Johnson to move to #2 all-time so far this season.  But, short of a Grinell College/Paul Westhead System effort from the team for him, every game the rest of the season, he will never get close to DJ Cooper.

        1. D.J. Cooper - 851
        2. Nick Kellogg - 728
        3. Gus Johnson - 588
        4. Tommy Freeman - 584
        5. Dave Jamerson - 570

Games Played:
*Nick Kellogg was not yet on the leaderboard (top 10) for games played at the beginning of the season, but could reach #4 just by playing every game for the rest of the way.

        1. D.J. Cooper - 143
            Reggie Keely - 143
            Ivo Baltic - 143
            Nick Kellogg - 143
        5. Kenneth Van Kempen - 134
        6. Tommy Freeman - 133
        7. DeVaughan Washington - 130
        8. Leon Williams - 127
        9. Jason Terry - 124
        10. Geno Ford - 123
        11. Jerome Tillman - 122

851 ?

That is huge. I thought Bruce Horan's 773 to make 314 at Butler was huge. Damn.

Thanks for posting. Assuming you will keep updated?

Can we talk about the development of Jon Smith? He's gotten better every single season he's been in the program, no matter the coach. He's having a great season, so it's nice to see him join a record list.

I'd hoist that many per season.  Wayne Gretzky told me that the only way that I can score is if I shoot a lot.

will try to update the list regularly, especially as other players on the team enter consideration for one of these lists, or another stat.

Maurice N'Dour might have a shot at joining the 1,000 point club in just two years.

With a 14.0 average through 33 games he would end up around 922 points (assuming 33 games per season)

*The only other player in Ohio history to achieve 1,000+ points in their only two seasons in Athens was Lewis Geter (1991-92)

There are a couple individual single game records that would be nice to see someone set.

1. We have never had anyone with 10 blocks in one game.

2. We have never had someone with 10 steals in one game.

we've only had 9 blocks 4 times (3 by Jason Terry) and 9 steals once.

Do you have a record of that?  Add it to the thread...

If you go back to the 80's, I might be on that list...

Here's one for research - maybe Nick has a shot at #1 All Time "Most Winning Games Played". I think he has a real good shot at this.

If my calculation is correct, as a class this year's seniors have been a part of 83 wins so far. Twelve more and they will eclipse the 94 wins logged by last year's class. I say shoot for 100+!

last year's class was the winninest class in Bobcats history and this year's class shares 3 years in common so.. if this year's class gets more wins as seniors than last year's class got as freshman than they become the winningest class.

The number to beat is 22. 12 wins are already in the books with 15 left to play.

I had forgotten what a good shot blocker that Jason Terry was.  Jon Smith seems much more athletic to me.  I'm a big fan of both men.  It'll be interesting to see how these standings look at the end of the season.

9092,  Any idea why the ohiobobcats.com article on the NIU game states that Nick passed Jamerson for made 3s with his third triple of the game?

I think Nick will get into the top 15 and become the all-time leader in three's.

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

FWIW ....when Tommy was looking at Jamerson's record I looked up the MAC record. 277 by Landon Hakeem at Miami.

Was within reach but did not get there nor did DJ

Tommy said Nick's sophomore year that he would be the all time leader

Depends on how you define "winningest."  If you mean total wins - yes.  I prefer averages and percentages because of the lengthening of the season over the past 30 years.  Speaking of percentages here's an interesting set.  All - time three point percentage:

Tommy Freeman - 44.35
Dave Jamerson - 41.93
Nick Kellog - 40.12
DJ Cooper - 32.20

This is purely speculative but I wonder if there's a way to rank guys relative to the scoring load or assist load or rebound load, etc that they were asked to carry for their team.  Also, perhaps factor in non 3ball era vs. 3ball era.
