Many of us on this board were hard on Bean for most of the season and I was one of them.
Over the last 12-15 games, you can make a case that Bean has been OHIO's most valuable player.

I know it's never easy for a transfer to adjust after sitting out for a year. It looks like he just needed to get games under his belt to get more comfortable. I feel much better about the point guard situation heading into next year. My apologies to Bean...he's really stepped up and proven many of us wrong.

I think he's averaging about 14 ppg the past 7 or 8 games. And he's hitting well over 50% on 3's. He 'looks' so much more confident as he sets up to shoot. Glad the season is turning out decent for him given the bumpy start. I think part of the early season problem was it wasn't real clear what his role was .. if he committed a TO he'd get yanked fast.

As has been hashed, he's still not a "PG" though. He excels when he can can get the ball on the wing and catch and shoot. Much more of a shooter/scorer who wants a play run for him than a facilitator who runs the offense for others. Which we''ll need next year with Nick gone. I think this post-season has proven he can be a legitimate scoring option for us next year and that's huge...I just still think we need a "point guard". Hopefully once healed up that's all Stevie next season. We shall see. A Stevie/Bean back court will be awfully small though too.

Also purchase more letterhead and stamps for your apologies to Wilkins, Setty, Campbell.

The depth and breadth of OUr player development this year has been remarkable.    Gotta include Nick here, too.

Classy post to admit that. I was also frustrated with Bean's play and glad he is showing improvement. We will need him to play like this next season.

What we are seeing from Bean is rather common with the player who sits a year. Even though they practiced, still not the same speed as game speed. Some of our better transfers over the years all were somewhat slow starters to my memory.

if you have followed my posts (there's no reason you should, though) you'll see I am not one to gush.  But...

I believe there's a chance this team could really be special next year.  Guys Like Bean, Treg and Campbell continue to improve.  This post season tourney will send everyone into the offseason motivated.

There will be 2 keys:  First, can we have a NORMAL year of injuries?  Amazing what we've accomplished this year with all the games missed.  Second, can we get even modest contributions from some of the newcomers, Wingfield included?

Absolutely nothing is guaranteed.  But I am really looking forward to seeing what happens...

^This

I think that Christian wanted to mold Bean into a classic point guard but he's just not able to do it.  He is a scorer much the way Sonny Johnson was.  He still makes about ten plays a game that have me screaming at my computer but the man can score and he does it in bursts.  He definitely saved our bacon today.

I have also been a Bean basher - great to see him coming around. Still needs to improve controlling turnovers.

Bean makes a goodly number of impactful plays per game.   The more he cuts down the downside such plays, the better we are.

I agree completely, but some may say I am one to gush...

I think it is easy to forget this team has won 25 games. A TON of depth returning in the frontcourt... Stevie and Bean... We just need some of the incoming wings to make an impact.

I've seen crazier things happen.

I was one of the guilty parties for questioning whether this guy would help or hurt us going forward.  I think it's apparent he just needed more time (than most of us would've liked) to adjust.

The last 10 games he has been really solid.  He's hit big shots and has played a ton of minutes.

I still think he needs to work on some of his decision making in the open court with regards to passing (and I'd love to see less of those one-handed passes that so many of our guys seem to try)

But I also believe, he is more of a two-guard than a point.   So with a healthy Stevie Taylor next year, I'm confident having Bean up top with him.  I know he's not a dead-eye shooter like Nick...but with another off-season, he could turn into a pretty nice weapon if he doesn't have the pressure of running the point solo.

So yes...sorry for bashing the Bean earlier this season

I don't know, I'm not sure an apology is in order as much as congratulations.  Cause Bean was just not good when Stevie wasn't injured and even right after he took the starting job.  But I'll congratulate the man on taking a hold of the opportunity and living up to his potential down the stretch here.  I'm not sure if he would have made this leap without Stevie's injury and Coach having to give him more leeway to learn and grow.  But big ups to Bean hope he keeps it up and keeps improving so that he can have a great Senior year.

pass/dish to trailer

don't pick up dribble unless you know what next action is before picking up (occassional Time Out OK!)

anticipate receiver hands location better

shoot when the open opportunity presents itself

and we win
