We are seeing the impact here like we saw on the football team these past few years.
There is only so long that a team can play above it's potential to make up for injuries to 3 or 4 starters.
Going 3-5 over these past 8 games is proof.
Things are looking gloomy as we go into the last week of the regular season.
I'm giving up on the team......I'm just becoming a realist.

So NOT giving up on this team is what makes me an optimist?

That is a ridiculous way to approach the end to this season. We have certainly been hit hard by injuries and are fighting an uphill battle from here. That is no reason to QUIT on this team. I hope the team doesn't give up as easy as you.

I've seen crazier things happen.

Ops, my fault...The last sentence was meant to say I'm NOT giving up on this team...I'm just becoming a realist.
I need to improve on my proof reading.

I think fans have to be real with the fact that one starter, Johnson, has been out for a couple months now and his replacement, Hall, has not been very effective since an injury and is receiving less minutes. Then Taylor is playing minimal minutes at far from full strength. You've got to hope Ohio can manage a couple wins, get a bye, get a little healthier and then have a chance come MAC tournament time in a couple weeks. If not, it will be extremely hard to win in Cleveland but not impossible.

IMO we punt the last two games and rest up Mo, Stevie, TJ and anybody else that needs it.  The chances of getting a bye at this point are extremely slim.

Umm, we beat BG and Akron loses to Buffalo on Wednesday, we will move ahead of Akron for the 4 seed. Now is not the time to be packing it in.

IMHO BG seems to be a matchup nightmare....but I would really like to be wrong on this one.

never argue with idiots, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Everyone is a match up problem at the moment.

I'm not giving up on this group, either, but reality does seem to be setting in.  Healthy, I think this team could win the MAC, they are just light years from healthy right now.  I'd like to think they should win at least one of these final two games, but as Borna said, BG is not a good matchup.  As a team we don't seem to handle the zone all that well and we're going to see 40 minutes of it tomorrow night.  I do think if Kellogg snaps out of it and N'Dour can contribute 10-12 points we stand a very good chance of winning, though.  Akron just beat this team without the services of McAdams and Kretzer.

Yeah, definitely have to go all out to win at BG. If it doesn't happen and Akron wins, then maybe you consider giving some guys some rest at Miami. But as long as the four seed is a possibility, you have to go for it.

I was thinking the same thing.

But at the same time, who do you rest, and how can you rest them without burning redshirts on Khari and Wingfield? Play Wadley Mompremier in place of N'Dour, maybe?  Drew Crabtree could see some time?  The bench is almost too thin to simply rest guys for an extended period.

When Coach Christian was pulling seniors off the floor on Saturday, for their one by one ovation, I was concerned we would have enough bodies to pull it off.

A lot will have to happen for us to get a bye.  If a 10 day rest gets Mo's back right that's the direction I would go.  If it would only be a minor help then by all means go all out to win the next two.  But Mo is a shadow of himself right now and I'd be shocked if the team we are putting on the court right now in their present condition has a hope in hell of winning the next two games.   Of course, a lot depends on whether the rest would even help at this point.

To get this where it belongs...in regards to ndour being hurt or injured:

I think most on here agree that ndour is the guy that could make this team Champs. He is obviously hurting if not really injured. Stats sometimes really do tell the story. Just look at the last 3 games:

Shots: 1-7, 2-8, 4-11 Total-7/26 or 27%
FT: 6-11, 0-1, 1-2 Total-7/14 or 50%
REB: 6,4,1 Total 11 or 4 per game
Points: 8,4,9 Total 21 or 7 per game
Mins: 23,27,31 or an avg of 27 mins per game

If we are going anywhere in the tourney, we need ndour at 100% for 35 mins a game. So, I say rest the guy and get him ready for the tournament. Setty and C-bell can give you the kind of production we have gotten the last three games and it gives them experience for next year.

A lot? If we win tomorrow and Akron loses, we are back in a tie for 4th place.

To me, that isn't a lot.

I think this is a good plan really.  Setty and Tony's games have really elevated.  I think they'd capably give 15-20 mins each.   Still, I feel like getting that 4 seed, and 5 1/2 days of rest for some key guys is the best bet.
