Akron tiebreaker?

Do we cheer for Toledo from here on out to win the #1 seed? Wouldn't that give us the tiebreaker over Akron? If WMU is the #1, Akron would have the tiebreaker advantage, correct?

isn't it who has the best division record, then who has best win? if so we have 3 losses vs the East and they have 4 which would give it to us.

Both Akron and Ohio have 3 east games remaining. Akron is a game back. If we do end up tied, we would have identical records against the MAC East.

Could find anything official form the MAC but, I did find this in an article from the Toledo blade (LINK) just before last years tourney (3/9/2013). It says division record is only used to determine the division champ.

As far as a tie with Akron goes, they also lost to WMU, so it would be a push. Our 1-1 record against Toledo (vs. their 0-1) would give us the tie breaker.

Everything I've seen and read shows this to be true. In a tie between Akron and Ohio with no other teams tied with them, Ohio will have the tiebreaker.

Oh, I see. So our 0-2 against WMU is not worse than Akron's 0-1 because both are .000. If Buffalo passes Toledo in the standings, at worst, it will be a wash if Akron and Ohio are 1-1 against Buffalo. Our 1-1 against Toledo is clearly better than their 0-1, and it is looking more and more clear that neither Akron or Ohio are going to catch the top 3. Buffalo @ Akron is an important game for our bye prospects. One Akron loss plus us going at least 2-1 in our remaining games gives us a bye. Against the Eastern division, we are 4-3 while Akron is 3-4. Win out and we have a bye.

This makes me feel better. However, going off of last year's tiebreakers from the Blade, as opposed to the official ones that could (should) be found on the MAC website still leaves me thinking the worst case scenario is we're playing Ball State, Monday night, at Rice University.

The usability of the MAC website for anything other than stats and schedules....sheesh. Trying to find a news release is nearly impossible.
