Non weight-bearing bone but sounds like he will be very limited at Akron and for the next few weeks.  Not good.  The Bean I saw last night was not a Bean that will get us any meaningful wins down the stretch.  Just brutal performance.

The reality is that this team, with no point guard, could very well go rest of season without winning a game. I really hope Christian has something up his sleeve when it comes to bringing  in another point guard  for next season. You can't go into next year with just Stevie and the Bean-ster. Not enough production or depth there to find success in March.

JC misfired on Bean...dude isn't a point guard.

This is a huge loss.  Stevie's energy is infectious.  While he has his faults at times, the team is so much better when he is on the floor.  I hope it's not season ending, but he was noticeably wincing during the few minutes he was out there last night.  I could tell he was in a lot of pain and a step or two slower than normal.

I don't know why everyone is ripping on Bean.  Granted, he does do some things unconventionally, like always have his back to the basketball on defense and chase his guy down the lane because he went over the top of the screen.  Also, one of his turnovers last night was clearly not his fault.  Late in the game, he threw a beautiful no-look pass to Bobcat Love in the right corner, but Love was sitting out of bounds.  Love has to know where he is on the floor.  That is a clear catch and shoot situation, yet Bean gets unfairly credited for the turnover.

Perhaps Bean is seeking the same level of admiration from The Love that Geno achieved?

Fibular fracture?

Interesting. Any link to the source?

Bean unconventional?.....nahhhh....note the head on a swivel and ever present and taught by every coach from grade school up......BALL/You/Man line of the ball court awareness, always know where the ball is .....ready to jump the passing lane when it comes back. ...Fundamental I tell ya....

Bean is just using the eyes in the back of his head to watch the play in action. that way he can see the WHOLE floor at once. LOL

From post-game presser:

"We have a lot of guys with injuries. I’ve got T.J. with his two injuries. I’ve got [Maurice Ndour] with his back; he can’t move. I’ve got Stevie [Taylor] now with a fracture in his leg. So, he can’t play."

"We found out about it at 5:30. It’s not a weight-bearing bone. So, it’s like a pain tolerance thing. To go into the game today, I thought he showed some courage. Moving forward, I’m not sure how much he can play. It’s pain tolerance. He got an MRI and an x-ray today. That’s what came out of it."

Borna,

If there is any video of the Miami game you can see the point of contact when Stevie and a Miami player were going for a loose ball-In the second half I think.  The Miami player and Stevie went down and the Miami's leg (cannot remember if it was knee or foot) hit Stevie right in the calve.  Stevie grabbed it then and later limped off the court.  I think he sat out a part of the rest of that game if I remember correctly...  I happened to be watching the replay the next day when the thread about Stevie's ankle was started and remembered seeing the incident.

This is what I see on nearly every defensive possesion.  It is why he gets picked so often, and why he is constantly trailing his guy down the lane watching a layup go in.  It's also why he is the frequent victim of backdoor cuts.  The only question mark for me regarding his play this year is whether he has worse fundamentals on the offensive or defensive side of the court.

695-I believe that is a near unanimous feeling by all BAers.

Question is:  Do the coaches see something we are not seeing?

I understand with Stevie out we may have to play Bean more minutes.  But, Would we be better off asking nic to bring the ball up and going with three bigs?  After all once we get into that motion everyone handles the ball and there really isn't a point anyway so why not?

I hear Abreau is looking to get back on the court.

I'll be happy with Bean if he'll just stop trying to do a DJ style bounce pass through 3 defenders. It never gets passed the first one.

He looks so small next to them. Seems likely it's being used out of context.

Or it's been worked on...

Thats some pretty funny stuff there Pete.

You suppose the hammer or a fire will get him to turn his head? ...maybe when his pants are on fire.

My coach, Jerry Fisher (Miami PG '66) just hit us in the back of the head with a really hard pass if we did not see the ball. You learned real quick to always know where it was.

I talked to Stevie - it's a serious pain issue.

Bean - the pass to nowhere. That was it for me w/Bean - I lost all hope for any future good prospect w/him after that pass. There was not another OHIO player within 20 feet of that pass!

I don't want to pile on the kid but . . . after that pass he looked up like why wasn't somebody there to receive it?

Since it is non-weight bearing, does this basically mean Stevie is alright to play without risk of further injury? Pretty much dependent on his pain (which I would imagine is pretty severe)

I've seen crazier things happen.

I've said this before but I think he decides what he is going to do way too soon and then has no plan B. It doesn't matter what anybody else on the court does after he decides what he is going to do. If he decides he is going to drive and drop it down low to Jon Smith when Jon's man tries to stop him on help defense it doesn't matter if Jon's man helps or not he's still going to make that pass. Jon might not even be there anymore but that pass is going to be made.  Every once in a while the stars align and the pass is a success and people sit back and think "hey, Bean is coming around." Nope.

Why do you all insist that knowing the location of the ball is important?
