As always, all caveats apply to the flaws of plus/minus. Please use it for good, not evil.

Player      Mins        +/-
Willis           8            0
Campbell    1           -4
Wilkins       28         -7
Kellogg      28         -9
Setty           5          -9
Smith         28        -11
Ndour        36        -15
Hall            31        -18
Taylor        35        -21

That basically just reinforces the crap night our starters had, need to have more intensity and better discipline than what they showed last night.  We can't keep having these slip ups, hoping we getting some consistency and get hot near tourney time which is all that really matters.

Just funny how in the beginning of MAC play we had the defense but not the offense for the most part.  And now we are making our shots but our defense is faltering and at times we aren't playing as disciplined.

Funny how people on the WMU game thread are killing Bean, yet he's the only without a negative ratio.

8 minutes, 3 turnovers.  He got in the game, put his head down and dribbled directly into the right corner, then picked up his dribble.  My 10 year old knows better than that.

Ted, there are so many flaws in plus/minus...just too many other variables to use it to analyze.

True, he made two shots in the first half when we were up 11 or so.  Second half and crunch time he threw the ball away and was lousy on Defense.  Numbers can be used in many different ways but when you actually WATCH the game you see what a liability he was in that game more oftern than not.

Really amazing thing is when you look at those minutes we are basically at a 6 man rotation.  I've said this all year, we do NOT go 8 deep which is what you need.  Ric was a major loss but jon has some limitations offensively and ndour can't play 40 minutes every night.  Bottom line is we are inconsistent with PG play and in the frontcourt as setty and c-bell are not where we need them.  One of them needs to step up big.  But both needed a lot more playing time early and since we had Ric then it didn't work out.  We're paying for that now as JC tries to get them to performing where we need them.

Not to beat up on the guy, but was Willis actually the PG @ Texas Tech or was his role more of a shooting guard? Is he kind of being the round peg in the square hole trying to make a PG out of him?

Our bench last nite consisted of Travis. As B695 pointed out Bean played 8 mins. with 3 TO's, Campbell played a minute with 2 fouls and Setty played 5 mins hit one 3 and then pinballed himself to the bench.

I thought the real plus/minus was:

1st 15 minutes - Plus

Last 25 minutes - Complete MINUS by the Entire Cast!!

Obviously just a big minus when you go from up 11 to down 18.

The more I watch Willis, the more I think he could thrive as a SG. The last 7 games, he has hit 50% of his 3 point attempts. For awhile, I thought his 3 stroke wasn't smooth but not I feel pretty comfortable when he is shooting. Would like to see him get some increased looks.

Biggest problem for me is the turnovers.

I've seen crazier things happen.

That's what I would do although I understand why Christian hasn't given up yet.  I've coached my son's team for 4 years now and we have a kid who is a lot like Bean.  Very good ball handler but he just doesn't see the whole floor.  Every single season I've tried to make him our point guard in the hopes that something will have finally clicked but he just doesn't get it.  After the third consecutive trip down the floor where he dribbles into the lane and gets trapped I give up again.   Frankly I'd rather see Nick or T.J. bringing the ball up the court than Bean.  Let Bean do more of what Wilkins does on offense.

Bean's only real attribute has been his 3-point shooting. Although his shooting numbers at Texas Tech weren't good, the thing that gets me is how many more turnovers he's committing. Not that was good before, but he had 64 turnovers in 912 minutes. This year he has 40 in 321, almost twice as many per minute. It's hard to tell for sure, but it looks like from the numbers, he was the primary ball handler most of the majority of the season after an injury to another player.
