Toledo is 11-0 at home. Can we beat them again?

Probably means a lot more minutes for Matt Smith, who was a starter and played lots of minutes last year.

3 pt shooting could be the difference. If we can finally have a hot hand for once this year we can win - we're due for it! (and Brown has less than typical ultra stellar night). If we are cold from 3 and they are just warm then we are doomed.

Need to get Mo and/or Smith the ball inside "quick" - opens up the 3 w/dish outside if they can't go up quick.

We better be ready run - every second of 40 minutes. And that includes getting back quick on D - REAL QUICK.

Less perimeter "pick up dribble/hot potato round the horn" - need to penetrate, turn the corner into the zone quick, no hesitation.

This really cost us at WMU and vs Fiami.  They both got a lot in transition, and Fiami was even hustling down the floor after our makes.

Losing Drummond is big for them but not a dagger.  They still have three guys in double figures and Boothe at 9.9, so they still have plenty of firepower.

the new Savage is spectacular from the old. You are gonna like waht you see. Good eats around the area. I think we actually ate at a sportsbar overlooking Mudhen stadium last time up. Parking sucks....Got a space south of the arena and walked a bit....it was pretty cold and long. Enjoy.

The old arena, which was new when I knew it, had the hard as a rock Tartan floor. It was a miserable surface to play on. If you ever dove for a loose ball you would end up with third degree burns on your knees and elbows. Also saw that Dick Miller recently died. He was a tough hombre and they had a great front line along with Jim Swaney and Harvey Knuckles.

Depending on what you're looking for, I know the ins and outs of Toledo eateries. Send me a pm if you have any questions about the Toledo area if you're coming up for the game.

Truer words ne er were spoken....UD, Tipp City, New Castle. I can think of quite a few  gyms with that surface that made players think twice about hitting the floor.

Probably a good thing we did not spend too much time down there.....  .www.nplmlaw.com/articles/pdf/mercury_article.pdf

Grover wasn't the kindest surface either.  19 years on that floor wore me out but man the games were fun.  Tuesday, Friday and Sunday at noon and for those who truly understood the concept of "next" - Saturday afternoons were the best.

I really really really miss the old Grover.  No fees, no swiping cards, just open doors and a great collection of community members and OU students, including a number of athletes, and 5 full courts in one giant gym.  My favorite day was Sunday when the crowd started gathering outside the north doors about 15 minutes before some hungover OU student opened the doors at noon and 25-30+ ballers walked straight to the free throw line at center court.  First five makers vs second five makers and it was on.  Pulling a dynasty in those days and never losing the center court was ridiculously hard but when it happened you walked out of the gym on a cloud.

I recall one time at Grover when Squared, SBH. myself and a few others got on a role - just kept taking down "next" - until a squad comprised of a few members of the football and basketball teams came on.  One of them stole the ball and came down as I tried to get back.  Started to close to about 12 feet from the rim and just let him go - he soared for a dunk.  Simply turned to me and said, "smart."

I once "guarded" a member of the Ohio women's basketball team at Grover.  It wasn't until a few times up and down the court that I discovered that the woman who was schooling me was a member of the varsity team.  When I play I usually guard the weakest player on the other team because of my questionable skills.  I think no one on my team realized that this short lady -- at 5'10" she was a least six inches shorter than I -- was not some sorry Sally from a dorm league.  I could also tell you about my great game winning shots and that I once played against the all-time Grover scoring leader . . .
