Consistent production at the 1 and 3 positions will bring us a MAC championship. Rico and Hall are definitely capable just like Taylor and Bean. Go Cats!

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

Well..looks like it's up to Hall because judging by Rico reaction to injury..he's done for awhile.

He motioned to bench immediately. Feel badly for him.

Why is Setty getting more minutes than Campbell? Why has Campbell not played in first half? Setty is lost out there.

According to Arkley, Rico may have broke his leg.

We can win the MAC.

I've seen crazier things happen.

Just got 10x tougher without Ric. Hall is going to have to stay on floor and play 25 minutes.

Leon is correct.  i can't understand why Campbell would not be getting more PT than Setty.  Seems to have much bigger upside on offense...just needs to work on defense more and some of that comes with just playing at a higher level!

You never know what is going on in practice. There is no way to know how well he understands the system, how well he absorbs assignments and the scout or how he responds to coaching. SItting here and looking at upside is nice in the world of being a fan but we really do not know what coaches see day to day. You earn your gameday time in practice. Setty is much closer to being a good product to put on the floor right now from what I have seen than Campbell in polish, desire, skills on both ends and execution....

Agree with bornacatfan.

But I hope to see Tony develop and I think he will.

BTW, I think Setty has improved recently significantly. Last two games he has made his presence felt.

With Ric gone, we are going to have to find some scoring someplace besides what Setty is giving us. My concern before the season was finding scorers. NDour has been great and Kellogg is doing what he should be doing as a senior leader. Where is the scoring coming from now when Mo or Kellogg is having a bad night?

It is going to have to be Hall. I think he has it in him................

I'd like to agree with Borna but we already have one BIG that doesn't score that much.  Gonna be tough to play Setty and Smith at the same time because neither is really an offensive threat.  Just look at the stats and tell me Setty is a better shooter or rebounder than Campbell right now.  I understand all those non objective practice, system, etc points but still believe Campbell , if he'd gotten more non con PT, could have developed more than he has.

I also think this coach really likes both Bean and Setty and their EXPERIENCE so he will continue to give them more opportunities to show their stuff.  I just hope they both give us more than they have so far 'cause we are going to need it to win a MAC Championship (especially with the Johnson injury).

I'll echo what Colobobcat66 said and the concern I've posted here several times--where are we going to get consistent scoring?  Can't hang my hat on my premise that this roster is incomplete, because we have to roll with what we've got on this roster, but today was a prime illustration of my ongoing concern for this team moving forward.

Today:
Nick and Maurice combined for 60% of our teams points
Assuming TJ takes over the starters spot, this even further weakens our bench, which was weak with him.
Setty, Campbell, Wilkins and Wills in 50 minutes of combined action today contributed 1-6 shooting and 9 points.

We've simply got too many guys we put on the floor and think, "who in this bunch can get us a bucket?"

I'll thankfully admit that's it's been working ok so far, but I honestly don't understand how it is with so few consistent scoring options.

I see on the recruiting page that some of our new recruits are putting up big numbers and I hope they can hit the ground running next year as you take Nick off this roster and you've really got even bigger offensive concerns moving forward.  Or better yet, imagine this current team with Nick playing the way he did down the stretch last season?  Very thankful he took his game up several notches this season.

13 games in and we avg 73.3 PPG - not bad (especially considering several quality opponents and some tough away games).

Mo & Nick = 40% of the scoring.

TJ, Ric, Stevie, and Jon pretty much even split = 44% of the scoring.

Ric out means the rest play more, therefore natural to assume the others will score more w/more time on the floor - should be a wash, eh?.

I don't see Bean, Treg, and Travis regressing through the rest of the year - would be pretty hard for that to happen.

Campbell is nothing but upside.

"D" is where we will miss Ric, not "O".

YTD PPM played:

Nick = 0.49 (29.5 min avg)
TJ = 0.48 (16.6 min avg)
Mo = 0.47 (31.5 min avg)
Ric = 0.32 (26.1 min avg)
Jon = 0.3 (26.0 min avg)

TJ just needs to stay outta foul trouble.............he could lead the team in PPG, and make up for loss of Ric on "O" by himself.

The last couple of games have been really encouraging with TJ. He is putting the ball on the deck aggressively to the bucket and using ball fakes to improve the look he has. Yesterday, he was very active on his attempts to get to the rack. Many of us recall his launching from beyond the arc and 18 footers as the bulk of his game....this transformation and implementation of offense is quite a marked change that is welcome and needed in the current transformation of the team.

Based on what I saw yesterday, setty is much further along than Campbell. Campbell looks like he is processing his moves before making them on both offense and defense. Setty is reacting. Perhaps not ways the right reaction, but reacting. Better option this year is setty. Long term we will have to see.
