It may be stupid but I love when I go to a tournament and see fans hanging flags from their hotel windows and all over the arena. I plan on flying the green and white from my hotel window and also in the arena. Let's paint Cleveland green!

From what I have been told all my life, that is the Ohio State Marching Band's flag. Was I wrong?

Of course it is.  Any use of the word Ohio, in any version or representation, is theirs, because you know, they are the oldest university in the state.  Oh wait.......

If we're going to be anal about it, the state doesn't have an official flag. It has a swallowtail-shaped pennant. The only state flag in a pennant form.

Why yes, I did ace all of my fourth grade Ohio History tests in Tom Walker's class, why do you ask?

That's awesome. If you really want to drive the point home I think you put that on all our uniforms.

I absolutely love the Ohio flag (pennant) on the hockey uniforms. Lets start a movement to get the flag on the official jerseys. I think Ohio University has taken giant steps in reclaiming our rightful name. 90% of the time we are referred to as Ohio in the media. Now as fans we should start to incorporate the state flag (pennant) into our fandom! Flying it during the NCAA tournament would be a great launch pad for our effort!

I might bring my State of Ohio flag to Cleveland next week. Kind of off topic, but College Bookstore should make versions of the state flag only instead of red white and blue have the colors green and white. The Crew already sells these with a yellow C where the O is in the state flag with yellow stars and black/yellow stripes. They look pretty sweet and are pretty popular. A Green and White version would be pretty easy and I think they would sell pretty well too.

This past week as I was walking to my office I noticed the big computerized Times Square-style sign at the corner of Broad and High in Columbus.  They were running some ad for Huntington Bank that included something that looked like trash cans doing script Ohio on a football field.  The ad was in Huntington's colors -- green and white.  It was quite an improvement over how script Ohio is usually done in Columbus.

We have more right to the State of Ohio flag than does A&M.  Even though the state flag was not invented until after the War of the Rebellion (1861-65), we had many an alumnus fighting and some dying under Ohio regimental banners like the one in my avatar.  President Howard is quoted in the Hoover history of Ohio University as saying that Ohio contributed more men to the officer corps of the Union army than any other college in the state.   A&M, of course, at this time was not yet a gleam in the eye of the General Assembly.

Well that settles it, lets start using the Ohio flag more. There is literally no reason for us not to do that. Ill bring mine for Cleveland for sure. Now if we could just get the Ohio outline back on the floor at the Convo like the old days...

The air speed velocity of a flag is irrelevant I would think. However, we could ask a king, they do need to know those kinds of things.......................
