I've seen conflicting reports of 2:00 p.m., but also 7:00 p.m.  Which is correct?

Everywhere I've seen is 2:00. That's what's in the schedule card and on the web...so that's got to be it.

Anyone know if this game will be on the radio, or better yet, video streamed on the web like we have had for regular season home games?

No official game thread for this one?

And on that note, I got goose bumps seeing basketball  on the "Upcoming Games" box on the front page.

Same here! Though only an exhibition, it will be fun to see them take the court.

Now the Portland game, I'm very excited for. I called to order some more tickets for my group today and heard that sales are already well ahead of what they were for last year's Miami game. Can you imagine 13,000 in the Convo for Portland? That would be amazing. Not to mention the 110 floor show!

That sets the pace for an amazing season.  Our attendance could really get high for a lot of these games.  The atmosphere is fun in the Convo every year, this year is just going to be epic.

I've seen crazier things happen.

No plans for audio according to Russ.

Not sure why. It is an exhibition but interest seems to be at an all time high. I am not sure if the cost to get the staff in the Convo is a problem or we are just standing on tradition and not broadcasting the exhibition. Seems like many alums I am in contact with are very interested and have asked the same question. May just be a staff that is stretched thin with Thrusday night football and saturday hoops.

I can't get into the exhibition as much as some of you...I won't be making the trip down from Columbus for it, and I understand Russ & Crew not bothering with the exhibition broadcast.  It isn't so much the opponent (McKinney assures me they are very worthy), just the fact that it doesn't count.  Sure I love to watch my Bobcats no matter what, but to me it is just a glorified practice.  When you're talking about a 6 hour endeavor all told for each game, and the fact that we have 6 home games in 18 days coming up...and I'm sitting this one out.  I'm carrying all my offseason excitement (Convo withdrawal ending, seeing new players) into the 11/10 opener, which I'm obviously stoked for.

I would watch practice if I could.  While this game doesn't really count it is real basketball and with a new coaching staff I'm excited to see how we look.

Kind of disappointing not broadcasting it in some form. Most schools broadcast their exhibitions on the radio and many on TV. Not a good way to build on the fan excitement.

Really not a fan of Russ.  He's a bit annoying but I would love to see that game and don't know why a webcast can't be done.  Shoot, they can run it without commentary, I will be happy.

Are you meaning to tell me you're not impressed with Russ' humility when talking about lifting and bulking up? Only listened for about 10 minutes last night driving home from work , but it was enough to get too much information about Russ and his efforts in the gym.

I'm a big Russ and Rob fan. They are professional and entertaining. Their on-air schtick is funny. I think they do a great job describing the action and providing analysis, but the dead time keeps me entertained. If, during a dead ball, Russ wants to tell us how many reps he can do at 225, or what he and Rob are wearing, I don't care. Remember, we had Warren Swain as The Voice.

^ I'm with 695. I remember too well the days when we had an announcer who couldn't remember our players' names. I will never complain about Russ and Rob.

Totally agree with this.  You will see what I mean when we lose Russ to another venue.

Add me to the list of Russ and Rob fans. Granted, I've only been a Bobcat fan since 2008, so they are the only duo I know, but I think they do a great job. They make listening to the games fun and insightful. I don't mind the workout or wardrobe talk during the breaks in the action. Love the "BANG!" call on the 3's! Looking forward to hearing a lot of it since this will be my first year away from campus and I'll be watching the webcasts for all the games.

While you can argue with some of their on-air antics (I think most are fun) or off-air politics (I'm looking at you, "Haldeman"), our radio guys are some of the best in the business, irrespective of audience size. They're polished and professional and don't make many mistakes. Using just one example, contrast our guys with the clown show in Columbus. I feel fortunate every time I hear or see Russ and Rob.

Russ and Rob are great.

Definitely listen to other schools 'nouncers or some of those who do our games on ESPN's backwater channels.  You'll notice the difference.

I agree. Love them. I always like to sample some of the opponents announcers while we are playing but the vast majority are hard to listen to.  Not only that I never zone out on them.  I listen to a lot of sporting events on the radio and used to listen Chuck Thompson doing Orioles games on the drive either to or from Athens and I would find that two or three innings had gone by and I couldn't tell you the score because my mind had wandered off during his drone.  Jon Miller is great in this regard. I hear everything he says.  The same goes for our guys.

Same here - I earlier posted that I would go if were vs a local church league team. I am interested in getting a feel for the team/new coach dynamic, how is the "feel" and "look". Is "D" still the first priority? Do all these now Seniors exude a even higher level of commitment and determination in their presence, etc., etc., etc. Big next game vs Portland - can't wait until then to be at the right chemistry and mental levels for that game.

I love Russ and Rob. I feel genuinely lucky to have them. Like Frank, JC, the AD, and prez, I don't know how we could have a better broadcast duo. As far as radio is concerned, these guys are first class.

We are very lucky to have the quality and entertainment of Russ & Rob. Schaus/McDavis need to sign some extensions here as well! (and I have no idea how that works)

I would rather hear the guy (whom is retired now) yell, "First Down, Wiiilllllddddccccaaaattttssss!!!" at Newark High games than Russ.  And Rob is a little better but he gets me when Russ is talking after the games with this look like he's really interested, trying to look professional, or has gas.  I am sorry, I know a lot of people like them and I am sure they are great guys to get to know, but I just can't get past the "other material" like the workouts and wardrobe.  I think Russ is trying to be a Dicky V and I am sorry there is only one Dicky V.  He's the only one to get by saying how he talked to some players aunt about how they used to eat pork and beans for dinner almost everyday just so that player could have the best basketball camps and clothes.  I am sure if I met Russ and Rob, I would like them as a person but not as commentators.

Must be something in the water up here in Newark.

I just had a talk w/ my 13-year-old daughter about the importance of humility - one of the top 3 or 4 human qualities, IMO, and something Russ could use a little more of.

Obviously, I'm in the minority on this topic, which if OK. An example of professionalism is Paul Keels, play-by-play  announcer for osu inc. football and basketball. And this coming from someone whose distaste of all things related to osu inc. is unsurpassed.
