So which BA.com member is going to be bringing their laptop to the game in order to give us play-by-play in the chat room?

Anyone?

Rosters looks thin. They usually have 2  or 3 7 footers as transfers from D1 schools or projects that never panned out.

never argue with idiots, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Worst undefeated scrimmage team ever.

No Stevie Fresh for Mercyhurst this year?

I'll tell ya where we'll go. Someplace warm. A place where the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talkin' bout a little place called... ATHENS.

TJ Hall had a brace on his knee today.

They looked solid. Excited to see what Wilkins has to offer.

What a day at the Convo.....Wow!

DJ and Stevie looked shaky, but everyone else looked good. Kellogg might shoot 60% from 3pt this year. Smith looked a little too hyped up. Loved the defense.

The offense looked a little disjointed for scoring 82 points. It all should come together soon. Jon looked solid. Ricardo had a couple careless showboat plays. Travis should fit right in.

The O zone didn't do scoreboard. Lame.

Have they usually for the exhibition game? I can't remember...

Seriously, though, this was a glorified practice. We did what we needed to do and had a chance to shake the rust off. On to Portland!

We talked about it. No one deemed it necessary. Next saturday, however, will be a different story.

You know what Frank Solich likes most about coaching in the MAC? While he gets older, his coaching competition stays the same age, man.

Well not a jab exactly. Mentioned today's attendance was as good as any in last 4 years at TCU

I liked what I saw. Firstly, by far the biggest exhibition game crowd I have ever seen in the Convo - 4K? The Portland game I assume after that will surely be a full house.

Mercyhurst played scrappy outta the gate, but no bigs, and shooting was pretty bad. OUr D was pretty relentless - Like That A Lot.

I was concerned w/lack of O RB's, only 4 in the 1st H, and them w/no bigs. Obviously JC was too, he made a point of it during the 2nd H and we were much more aggressive on the boards.

Did not learn a lot today, but did see a lot to like. No softening up w/the lead. played the whole bench, everybody contributed. JC showed passion and fire even though this was an exhibition game vs a very outmatched opponent.

Someone above mentioned TJ's knee brace. Did not seem to be an issue, though after the break away dunk on behind the back pass from DJ he did fall down, and looked like the issue after that was the brace, not his knee (he tossed the brace on the floor when he came out).

One of the bigger crowds for any November/December game - let alone an exhibition. Was surprised by the number of folks sitting in the rafters...clearly a reflection of lots of season ticket "no shows". Talked with one of the guys at the ticket sales table out front and he indicated that season tickets have almost doubled from last year. Should have some fun crowds and cannot WAIT to see the "Sweet 16" banner flying high!

The only compelling thought I might add is we have 11 guys who will be looking for playing time once K. Green is eligible and I'm wondering how that's going to work itself out.  The good news is we have more depth than any year I can remember.  Tough question is how does this rotation work in tight games where we may limit the bench minutes a bit.

As mentioned I thought Stevie and DJ looked particularly sloppy today, but no concerns as the sample size is too great to make any judgements.  Disappointed K. Green couldn't play today as I thought he may be able to play in exhibitions.  Guess if he's as good as advertised he takes minutes from Ivo, Reggie or Smith?   Looking forward to seeing more of Wilkins.  He fit in well, but unless he has a deadly 3 point stroke I'm wondering if he's not the odd-man out of the rotation down the road.  The only value I see in him right now is being a consistent outside shooter, something we didn't always have last season outside of Nick.  Today he didn't show that, but didn't have a ton of opportunities either.

Whatever the case, add the new guys to the new coach and we still have plenty of compelling storylines to follow the first half of the season.

Being named Hoying in Mercer or Shelby County is like having the last name Singh in India. Or Yoder in Amish country.
