So, I got the season ticket order form in the mail today.  It got me really excited about basketball season. Without even doing the math, it's obvious that if you are going to attend more than 4 games this year (if even that), then it is stupid not to sign up.  However, it's so easy to be stupid.  Is it not?

So here I am, holding this plain and simple order form.  It would take a few strokes of a pen and I'd be in.

But, wait... I still have my student ID...  I've been out of college for how long and I can still get into games for free..Where's the trash can? ........"Dinners ready!"  (I'm distracted and the paper lives another hour as I rest it on the counter).

An hour later, that form and letter sits waiting for its' "judgement day".  Excitement catches on again and I start reconsidering my ignorance.

I've been going to games for so long and had so many great memories at the Roundhouse on Richland.  I support the team in many ways, just not in any monetary fashion.  I'm a die-hard.  I should give back.  I want to see that place packed again, and not just when Gary Trent is in town for Miami.  I want season ticket sales to go through the roof this year.  I want a damn scoreboard, not a tacky "cornerboard".  Wait, everybody else is doing the same thing...Why should I be the one to pony up?  I love my free pass.  I'm sure there is some elderly Ohio Alumn out there on his deathbed with the next 30 million dollar donation clutched in his fist.  The money will come from somebody else.  I'm too young.  My small season ticket package wouldn't make a difference anyways.

I go back and forth.  I did this for football season.  I can walk into the student entrance with a library card, possibly even a Kroger Plus card and I'll get in.   As long as I'm dressed like a student going to a football game, which is how I dress anyways...

What would KVK do?  > I ask myself this a lot.

I wonder what kind of coffee John Groce is drinking in Champaign?  I bet it sucks compared to Donkey.  Wait, he went to Starbucks at Kroger.  I wonder if Christian drinks coffee.  I bet he is more of a Muscle Milk kinda guy...

Okay, jeez.  Let's just do it.  I'll drag my dad to a couple games this year.  I'm sure a buddy will want to see us destroy Marshall at home.  I can be that mysterious, yet charitable guy that hands a couple tickets to some young high school kids who have nothing else to do but kick rocks.  Yeah.  I don't look back after handing them the tickets.  I'm a legend.  So cool.  Alright, I'm in!

Order form takes 7 seconds to fill out.  Literally.   I even go through the strenuous task of finding a stamp.  Here we go.  No regrets.  I'm going to be a season ticket holder.  That is Bad A$$$$$$$$$$!

.....Where do I send this to?  Roderick McDavis?  He lives on President street....  Okay, it's easy to look online and find the address.  But, really?  And how will they even know who wants these tickets?  Are they going to trust me to have a return address on the envelope that they will copy down into their ticket system?  Should I get cute and write a note on the order form with my contact information and "Go Bobcats!"

Luckily, since I actually really care about Ohio Athletics and it is consumes a huge chunk of my life... I'm going to follow through and write a cute note with my contact information on the side.  But, here it is folks.   I'm afraid many will be like the old me and say, "Too bad, you forgot to ask for my information.  No address to even mail it to.  They must not want it that bad.  I go back and forth on a lot of stupid things.  And this was obviously one of them.  I need excuses to get out of these decisions.  Something as stupid as my contact information and who to mail it to, could have been the easy excuse not to follow through.

Yeah....you can do it online.  But, I don't feel as guilty staring at my computer thinking, "Oh man, I should really get online and sign up for season tickets."  Thanks for the letter and all, but think it through on how somebody is going to look at your order form and what excuses they are going to give themselves for not writing that check.  It's a small mistake.  I'm sure not everybody is like me.  I hope there are people who are reading this and are convinced not to hesitate.

GO SUPPORT THE TEAM THAT MADE YOU LOOK SO AWESOME IN THE OFFICE ALL MARCH.  NO MORE EXCUSES.  ROCK THE ROUNDHOUSE!

(I hope this doesn't come as a cheap shot against the Ticket Office.  Not my intentions at all.)

Great post. The conclusion is right on. The inadequacies/ineffeciencies of the ticket office/marketing (go hand in hand when it comes to "Sales/Closes") have been a topic of frustration on here for years. But, in the end, just gotta deal w/it - and commit...............

Have done just that for nearly 25 years.................

In fairness, I got the same letter and it included a return address envelope. Perhaps yours just missed it when they sent it out.

What would KVK do? That's a great question to ask yourself!

What would KVK do?

Well, he would probably get an offensive rebound with 2 seconds left and down by one and pass it out for a three point shot.  Something dumb like that.

BTW, I got a return envelope as well but live too far away to get them.  But looking forward to Nov 3rd!!!

Are we really debating about who is getting return envelopes in the mail? Must be the offseason...

No such thing as too far away! Heck, KVK's in the Netherlands!!

Hmmmm.  So, CinCat just laid waste to the ticket office and he's actually to blame?

Hmmmm.

Can somebody hit a pull up jumper for me?.....

I need to adapt the "What would KVK do?" way of life.

I've seen crazier things happen.

Return envelope or not, I think you can sign up online and it takes only a few seconds that way and then you don't have to worry about stamps.

KVK posted something recently on facebook that gives us a hint of what is his way of life:

“People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
...Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.”
