Sorry but this is big and deserves it own thread with a title that jumps out and says "look at me!" What sport had Ohio's last top 25 finish in the seasons final poll? I am guessing volleyball. Not any more!

Field hockey finished the 2011 season ranked #20. Note that poll only ranks the top 20 teams.

The last time volleyball finished the season ranked was 2006 when they finished #25. Finished #14 in 2005.

25?  What garbage.  UMich ahead of us though we beat them?  When it counted, we played.

25 is an insult.  I hope that OUr lads take this as incentive for next year.


Oh, of course, they can't be any good.  They're MAC, mid-major.
Too bad we can't be judged on what actually happens on the floor.

So where should Eastern Michigan and Toledo be ranked? After all, when it counted, we played. Polls are based on the entire body of work.

Yes, polls are based on the entire body of work...with an emphasis on the latest performance...and a regard for the fact that performance at year end--the most important time of the season is--to be more heavily weighted.   (wanna win, for example, 12 straight to start the year or to end it?)

At a very quick glance, it appears that the top of the poll--at least--is guided by the teams' performance in the NCAAs.  So, we deserve that same standard of judgment.

Yes; I'd rate us about #12.

Andy Katz left us out of his super-early preseason 2012-2013 rankings.  Not in the top 25 and also left out of the "on the cusp" teams.

I don't think No. 25 is an insult. I was just happy to see OHIO in there. The team didn't even win the MAC regular season title, lets not get greedy. Michigan was co-champions of the Big Ten. OHIO had a nice little run in the tourney, but beat only one ranked team.

I know many of people on here may agree with Monroe, but I think calling this an insult is silly.

Andy used to be all for mid-majors and somewhat of a MAC fan, years back, but something has changed with him over the last few years. I dunno if it's because he doesn't follow them as much anymore or what but he seems like he leans more towards the bigger schools now.

As for those that think it was an insult to only be #25. While I'd like us to be more a 22 or 23(we missed 24 by 1 vote), I think if you were expecting anything higher, you are dreaming. We didn't win our conference(and only finished 3rd), we were getting NO votes at all before the tourney and the MAC wasn't a strong conference and neither was our RPI/SOS.

We went from no interest at all to #25 on only 2 wins and a coulda/shoulda/woulda loss to NC. Be happy we got that much respect.

I think you got that from Sports Illustrated website. I made that same mistake early in the season. I have no idea what that updated date and time means.
