You know what Frank Solich likes most about coaching in the MAC? While he gets older, his coaching competition stays the same age, man.

Was nice, though I am looking forward to the next episodes since this was more of a recap of the season till now episode.  Though it was still nice to see behind the scenes in the locker room and to see Gary Trent talking to the boys.

I watched bits on STO last night, and it was very well done. And it's great outreach for this to be on WOUB, reaching all the people of SE Ohio, even those with rabbit ears.

We're selling the product well. The dividends are beginning to show themselves through the admissions office. It's creative thinking at it's finest.

Don't know if it's my cable provider, or some format thing, and it's hard to describe, but the video was hard to watch. It was almost as if it was through a strobe light. Made me a little dizzy. #firstworldproblems

Pete, it was not just you.  My guess is somehow this was an STO problem.  Shame.  I watched it via DirectV..

Unfortunately, I cannot share the enthusiasm of some.  I found very little new info here, and not that much of an "inside" look.  A bit too much on the last two years.   Too many sit down interviews...not enough unfiltered sound, where the viewer is just kind of dropped in and allowed to eavesdrop....this was more of a glorified highlight film.

I'm glad they're doing it but this show was obviously shot with a limited budget and limited imagination.  About what you would expect from a MAC school.

How about miking up Groce and shooting him for a game?  What about placing a mike on Offutt and following him around for a day?  There;s a lot of imaginative stuff that can be done and it doesn't have to be faked, either.

For us old farts, did anyone notice shots of a handsome young Jim Snyder on the bench during his playing days?  Was about a minute into the show....

I think if you had expectations that it was going to give you all kinds of inside information, you were bound to be disappointed.  If you were looking to just have a little added coverage and footage of the team, it was great.  A few shots of the locker room postgame and John being mic'd up during one game isn't disappointing to me.  I continue to be amazed at the negativity some of our fans have.

I agree that it is shot and produced well but not at the level of "Relentless."  Puzzled by the amount of time spent on the 2009 run - that's irrelevant today and for the goals this team has. We got a far deeper inside look in the football version.  Perhaps that was dictated by Groce?

Nevertheless, obviously better than anything anyone else in our league has.  Very professional.

I didn't notice any of the problems you guys are describing.

I also expect the next couple of shows to be more "inside."  This was the first of a series which was trying to get the viewer up to speed on what Ohio Basketball has been about since the hiring of Groce.

MAC-level?  Not even sure what that comment means.  Please point me to a production like this that exists for any other school, in or out of the MAC.

The majority of "Relentless" was also not done during the season.  Perhaps the team just had more time to work on it?

Not to mention a greater percentage of players to pull stories from.

Also, remember we are the choir. And the pilot episode sets the stage. Give it time. The next show may not be in the can yet.

Good points.  Just spoiled by the football version, which was unbelievably good.

Groce looks so young in that opening press conference.

Bruce,

I have a feeling they were just showing where this program was a couple of years to set up where it is now. I expect some of the other stuff that you mentioned to come in future episodes. I didn't move for 30 minutes and it had me locked in. I would have liked to seen more Trent stuff from his day, but it was still well done. My only complaint is why bleep out *ss when Gary said, "Let's kick Miami's Ass". Thought that was odd.

You have to remember that this show isn't just about you or the passionate OHIO Basketball fan.  It is about recruits and attracting new fans.  In order to do that, you need to share some background on the program and its successes.  The first episode was just away of educating a less engaged or complete non-fan about the program.  Also, this is an inside look at the program not at just this season, so the background was completely necessary to set the table.

With that said...your post really angers me.  How can you go from this is so awesome to being so ungrateful?  The fact that OHIO is able to produce this at any level of quality is a miracle given their budget and resources.  You say this is about what you would expect from a MAC school?  There isn't a MAC school out there that is doing anything close to the quality of Evan's pre-game intro videos let alone a television series.  I haven't seen a Big Ten, SEC, Big East, PAC 12, Big 12 or ACC school produce anything like this themselves.  The Big Ten network or ESPN or CBS might do it on a handful of programs, but I have seen those and they give nowhere near as close a look at the program.

Talk about a sense of entitlement!  I hope the next episode forces a size 30 foot into your mouth!

Just because 50% of cable networks routinely use the word "ass" now on public television doesn't mean it needs to be there. Besides that, if you're paying attention, it's kind of implied.  I was there when Gary said it, and was fine with that.

It should be an interesting episode tonight following the long road trip and two bad losses. It's easy to make a show like this when things are going well, but I hope to learn a lot about the guys and the staff when there's adversity.

Nice episode.  It would have been nice to hear from the team and coach following the EMU loss but understand why it might not have been possible.

Agree that it was a nice episode.  We got to see some of the behind the scenes stuff.

Good work!  Thanks.
