The recruits who have verballed

DId they choose Ohio or did they choose Groce?

Just because they may not be sought by Illinois doesn't mean they won't seek a school other than here.

Hate to add to any gloom and doom but it is a valid point in my opinion.

The other side of that coin is to ask how those recruits would fit into a new coach's system and who has said coach been recruiting that might follow him to Athens.

I'm sorry but I couldn't figure out the 2nd part of your point but the 1st part is valid none the less.

Tough for me to believe we're going to turn down the prospects we have coming in, we've got some very talented recruits on the way - recruits that fit into a system that has been proven to work with the personnel we have now.

If we get Boals or Dustin I'm not worried about it at all. If we get someone else I guess we'll have to see if the system they want to run is different.

I think Pete is also saying that whomever gets the head coaching job at Ohio might be "in" on some recruits he'd like to bring here.  That's pretty normal.

Time will answer all these questions.  As you know, this is all normal stuff for a coaching change.  Nothing to get stressed about.

Let's be realistic....We have a Mid-Major program and our recruits are just that, talent wise. I would be really surprised if anyone backed out. They all want to be part of a winner and we are. They all want to go the the Big Dance, and we have now gone 2 out of 3 years.
Any new coach inherits a great MAC team for his first year. It's who he recruits for his 2nd year that will be real important. I would think our AD will be asking questions along those lines in the interview process in the effort to keep the success rolling.
I would guess they would pay this new coach more than Groce but not as much as Solich. Keep in mind they will get $200K from Illinios to apply towards the new coach's salary. This $200K may actually lower the Universities out of pocket salary expense when compared to Groce's compensation, it's all good.
I would be surprised if they promote anyone from the current staff. It will also be interesting to see who moves on with Groce.
