Matta in the Final Four

Key Quote: "Matta has created an impressive coaching tree of his own. Arizona’s Sean Miller, Butler’s Brad Stevens, Dayton’s Archie Miller, Charlotte’s Alan Major and the new Illinois coach John Groce all worked for Matta. The assistant coach Jeff Boals could be next; he is considered a strong candidate to replace Groce at Ohio."

My conclusion: if the NYT and JSF agree, it must be the closest thing to a "done deal" that one could imagine.

Barry Collier is a great tree from which to sprout.

=>Miami's staff in 1994-95 season:

Head Coach:  Herb Sendek
Assistants:  Thad Matta, Sean Miller, Charlie Coles
Grad Assistant:  James Whitford (now associate head coach at Arizona) - finalist for Miami's head coaching job

NOW THAT is one helluva staff!
