Incoming freshman Caris LeVert led his Pickerington Central team to the state title yesterday. I believe he had 20 of his teams 45 points in the win over Toledo Whitmer, which oddly enough was led by a Michigan commit. Get used to it Wolverine. Ohio owns you!

Here's the game story from the Dispatch.

Whitmer coach Bruce Smith said. “They’re just a little bit bigger inside. (LeVert) was probably the difference-maker. He’s so tough to defend. We just came up short against a tremendous basketball team.”

Culture change, paradigm shift.

6 years ago there was one state championship appearance ring in that locker room. Since Groce came in and started recruiting guys from programs that know how to win and do winnconsistenly in HS and Summer ball,  the entire culture has changed in that locker room.  Expectations from each individual are high within themselves and carry forth in their attitude and approach. It is an intangible but palpable change.

Players who have won at a high level have it in their gut. THey lust after that feeling and dedicate themselves to getting back there...most of all they know what kind of sacrifice and dedication it takes to get there in the first place. Like the commercial with John Houseman said so emphatically...those players know "you have to eaaaahhhhhn it"

never argue with idiots, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

that's good info, thanks for sharing. It might be a little premature, but I'm already starting to worry about what happens when we lose Coop, Offutt, Keely and Baltic to graduation in 2 years. Some sort of drop off is to be expected but I hope we can bring in and develop enough talent to remain dominant in the MAC and hopeful for a NCAA spot. I knda like these winning seasons and hope to see many more!

there is nothing that can do more for recruiting than what has transpired following the Georgetown win coupled with this year's sustained run. The presence of a program on the rise is very attractive to both parents and  high level recruits. The real trick is in getting program guys in place and keeping egos in check while getting them to buy into the system. Gonzaga, Butler and St Marys have been successful now with filling their roster with guys who buy into the system and their roles.

The next wave of parents and recruits have been really great and are good ambassadors and stewards of the program.... chemistry between all involved is so important. Coach has done a great job recruiting the entire families and kids with great support systems. The parents of the kids currently playing deserve great credit and have imparted great character in each and every kid on that team. Kudos to JG for vetting each player and making sure the entire support system is there creating great stability in the whole program.....
