I thought we had a great turnout for the gamewatch on Friday in Cincinnati. Not sure if more people returned tonight.

But, I wondered if those who went on Friday or Sunday would like me to secure the second floor at O'Bryon's again for this upcoming Friday night (tip at 7:47 p.m.) for the Bobcats' Sweet 16 matchup with UNC.

If so, please let me know and I would happy to set it up again and communicate with the alumni association.

If you think we should try to nail down a different location, I would be happy to help set that up as well.

Wanted to give this a bump - posting around 1 a.m. was probably a poor choice.

There were a ton of OU people there on Friday, wondering we would like to do it again this Friday.

Anyone?? Bueller?

I won't be in Cincinnati this weekend. I thought O'bryon's was great. The staff was very professional in accommodating our group. If you want to go back there, call them ASAP because there were plenty of X fans at the bar by the time our game was ending, and our games are at approximately the same time.

I only noticed two X fans rolling in for the later game on Friday ... were you referring to Sunday??? They were both playing at the same time. I was hoping X would lose.

Just spoke with the bar's party planner. She is going to talk it over with the owner and get back to be tonight or in the morning.

Our issue is that school literally down the street (Xavier) plays at the same time. I told her we need the room exclusively, audio and every TV needs to be on the Bobcats. So, we are awaiting word from the owner. I would think he would agree since it is matter of guaranteeing that he makes a good amount of money early on Friday, as opposed to hoping to make money. At the same, his few XU fans could get pissed if it taken over by OU fans and they can't watch the game.

Will post as get the word out as soon as I hear something.

I'm in, and was also there Sunday but sat downstairs. Unfortunately, since Xavier was also playing, they limited downstairs viewing to one, 15-20 inch screen behind the bar tucked away in a crawl space. It was so depressing because I think me and the girl sitting beside me were the only ones who cared about the game, while the Xavier fans moaned and groaned during the first half of their game.

I did notice a few people head upstairs with OU gear on, but I never ventured up there to see how many TVs were playing or what have you. Friday night was perfect, and I think if we booked it again we could get a turn out just as good or even better. Let the Xavier fans take downstairs, we'll sit upstairs. The owner of the bar/bar manager seemed quite interested in how OU was doing, so maybe he'll actually want us there for business reasons. I know I laid down my share of money for them this past weekend and then some.

Book 'em Danno.

Should hear back from them in the morning, if I don't --- I will put the heat on.

I have a pair of backup plans, so I will a place locked down that meets our demands by tomorrow. Someone will want our money. I would be surprised if O'Bryon's doesn't give us want we want.

HeHateMiami is on duty for the FB event page and targeting his young professional crowd.

I will relay the message to the alumni association and get that up ASAP.

Wondering, did you go upstairs on Friday?

A friend of mine's daughter is a bartender at O'Bryons.  I'll be sure to send him the message to ensure that she takes care of the green and white on Friday.

Yes I was there Friday and sat right at the bar on the left hand side. I thought it was a great crowd and everyone was relatively into the game, even the patio crowd. Loved the O-H-I-O chant after we won too.

I've already been getting some texts asking where we're going for this. I'm expecting a pretty good crowd.

Just got word from the owner. They want to have us, but keep one TV on XU. I told them that was unacceptable. They said that if our crowd was big then all the TVs would be on OU, just to get there early.

Well, the XU game starts about 30 minutes before the OU game.

Sounds like a hassle to me.

Any other suggestions - the more I think about Oak and Molly Malone's the more I don't like them.

Alright I have given this much time and thought - and called around. I believe I have the perfect solution. It is not ideal but it such help in this time of need. It is a little something called a DOUBLE PARTY

Party A: O'Bryons - Go upstairs to the party room. All TVs, along the bar on the patio will have the OU game on. Will request audio. One TV is going to be devoted to XU. I believe last week we had 80-to-100 fans show up. Could have been more, I know some fans stayed downstairs. I will make sure televisions are reserved.

Party B: Oak Tavern - Tradition alone caused 50-to-60 people to turn out last Friday. They are guaranteeing four of their seven TVs in their prime locations (with audio) on OU game.

OVERALL: With XU on TV and the unpredictability of that fan base. We are better off just having two parties.

I will message the official release to HeHateMe for Facebook and to Ted Thompson for Bobcatattack. I will also email the alumni association. Spread the word. It is on.

Any last minute changes and suggestions need to be PM'ed to me. But better be done fast, because I am not waiting around.

Umm, not to argue with the guy doing all the work setting this up, but running two events doesn't make much sense to me. Wouldn't it make more sense to combine efforts?

Potentially won't be enough space if we combine.

Also, bars are 2 miles apart on the same road.

You are pretty much getting 60-to-70 percent of the Oak and 60-to-70 percent of O'Bryon's.

If I could get 100 percent of a place (not sure if 100 percent of Oak is still enough) or big enough section of a giant sports bar I would.

The idea just came to me and with the bars being so close - I actually thought it was genius.

This is still open for debate. But time is ticking, I also have to tie some loose ends at O'Bryon's if that falls through we may all be going to Oak Tavern to watch only a portion of its TVs.

BTW, Molly Malones has a private church party with a band - so they don't have the space. The owner is kind of pissed that he can't have us.

You're only getting a portion of the TVs, sure, but who knows how many fans of other teams (Xavier really) show up. I'd vote for combining into one party and doing it at the Oak. They also have an outdoor area with TVs that could handle spill-over and if it's anything like the 2010 gamewatch, I'm guessing fans of other schools will quickly find other places to watch their teams (the Oak was overrun with OU fans in 2010, it was a crazy-fun atmosphere to watch the game in).

You should ask the Oak manager if we get more than 100 or 200 people if they'd be willing to flip over some of the other TVs to OU.

The problem with their TVs, is that they are connected. So if one TV is on one game, then another TV will be on that game. They will not budge on one of the outdoor patio TVs, which controls the middle TV (I believe indoors). At the most we can get another TV. However, we physically kick the Xavier fans out - who might leave if a small bar has 200 people in it.

Every bar manager will tell me that they will appeal to the masses.

Hoping to get another opinion on this post before making it official. I PM'ed the others who wanted in from this thread. We will let them decide. If we don't hear anything by 140, I will call Oak Tavern to expect the full crew over. And call O'Bryon's to let them know we aren't going to be there.

I like my idea.

However, I do like the idea of OAK. Especially when you consider they had a strong turnout without any planning last week.

Can a third (yet interested) party decide this for us?

Screw it. You win. Sending the release out now. Then making some calls.

OHIO fans make a triumph return to the Oak Tavern, 3089 Madison Road in Oakley, home of the 2010 upset of Georgetown to watch the Bobcats take on another college basketball giant in the Sweet 16 Friday, March 23, at 7:47 p.m. Get to the OAK early, roughly 200 OHIO fans are expected to pack the bar this Friday as OU faces UNC.
