Very good game between Ohio University and Michigan tonight as most expected.

I thought Michigan was in trouble early the way Ohio University was shooting the ball from the outside.

Ohio University was on fire early ( well actually for most of the game from several players) on while Michigan struggled shooting from the outside along with missing a lot of close "bunny shots" some of which can be credited to Ohio University defense and some just not our day like we have seen this entire year.

Ohio University was playing tough defense and also created turnovers that lead to many points. Michigan was struggling early on defense and left a lot of players with good looks and not much pressure. Sometimes being that open is tougher than having a guy in your face, but they drained them.

Ohio University has a very good team and if you can keep shooting like you did against Michigan you can go quite far in this tournament. As others have mentioned I think Ohio University has a very good program and a good coach. Might be tough to keep him if they win a couple more games in this tournament because a lot of programs will be looking for a good coach after this season is done (Illinois and Nebraska) are just a few teams that could possibly look at your coach right now.

This is bittersweet for most Michigan fans because we had a good season in which we shared the Big Ten regular season this year something nobody was even thinking was possible at the beginning of the year when we lost Darius Morris to the NBA early. Also how far our program has come with these two senior (Zack and Stu). They ended their career by going to the NCAA tournament 3 out of the last 4 years.

Good luck against USF who has looked impressive the first two games of the NCAA Tournament they have played, but can they continue the hot streak. Will be interesting match-up.

Anyone interested here is our article on the game.

thanks EROC, it was a close game, you've got a talented team and a lot to be proud of, best of luck to you next season. Thanks for your input and the dialog, I enjoyed reading your site as well, great coverage. My brother is a life long Michigan fan (BIG time!) so I'll be rooting for you guys with him this fall, as always.

p.s. no need to be formal on here, you can just call us OHIO.

It was nice to get a win over the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.

I thought we were playing a Michigan state university.  I'm proud to say that my daughter who graduated from the school in Ann Arbor revealed to me last night that she was actually rooting for Ohio.  I guess I wasn't such a bad father after all.

I see you only got a few replies to your post. Congrats on coming back -- post game and leaving a respectful post.  I imagine many of those who were bashing you this past week may continue to hold a grudge and not acknowledge you.  At times I just don't get why some people get so nasty on sports web sites. Case in point -- this morning I saw a fellow Ohio alum posted some garbage about Vitale and some others going to a crack house with Jaylen Rose.  When such immature posts commenced earlier this week I posted how Rose had put his name and $ behind a school in Michigan focusing on leadership etc. Sadly, some people have a need to focus on the negatives. Not sure why they'd not post on our win, advancing in the tournament and focus on positives rather than stooping to cheap shots. I may get blasted by some also but I think if some people read what they posted they'd be embarrassed and wish they could retract.

Thanks Jerry for the comments.

I always take message board and use the policy of acting like I am talking or having a conversation with a person face to face. It is always easy to "talk" behind a keyboard and act tough.

The stories about Rose have been out there ever since he was in high school and have been reported on that being a inner city kid he grew up around it, went to parties that had it, etc... no different than anybody else unless your a saint. I have been to parties in the past that had pot and other things going on, but doesn't mean I did it or even want to do it. People just want to take shots, but don't like it when it is returned to them.

Thanks again and good luck to you!

I look forward to seeing Michigan again in the finals.

I've seen crazier things happen.

You guys will be much better next year when you get an actual post presence. Hardaway needs to stay though (be dumb to leave, but crazier things have happened).

Thanks for the kind words ERoc. The State University of Michigan at Ann Arbor put up a great fight. I will now go back to rooting for you every time you play that State University of Ohio at Columbus. In the meantime, THE Ohio University has some business to take care of in the round of 32!

Thanks, Eroc. You brought a lot of quality information to the board and kept things civil. I wish more opposing fans would interact with us like you. Good luck any time you play Ohio State in any sport. Just remember that they're not Ohio.

Eroc,

Thanks for the knowledge that you dropped on us this week. It certainly helped me gauge what UM basketball is all about. I have a feeling that Trey Burke is going to pull a DJ Cooper performance in next year's tourney. People forget he's only a freshman and I think experience really paid off big-time for the Bobcats in this one.

Best of luck next year!

Hardaway isn't anywhere near ready. He has been off and on all year long and as you guys saw he isn't very consistent shooting the ball. That was an average night for him to where I saw him a lot better, but I also have seen him a lot worse as well. To streaky of a shooter from 15 feet out. Also needs to work on handling the ball better. How many bunny shots did he miss alone yesterday? 2-3?

We got one big man coming in that is for sure and needed badly.

Jordan Morgan for being our big man plays soft and needs to get a lot bigger/stronger and a little meaner would help. Needs to add 20 pounds and get better around the basket. He act small doesn't go up strong and doesn't take contact to well. Needs to keep the ball higher as well because he always brings the ball down where smaller players can knock it away with ease.

Counting on true freshman is risky.

Worked out well this year with Burke, but Mitch McGary 6'10, 245 and ranked very high will help, but I worry about counting on freshman and especially big freshman that have to go up against bigger/faster/stronger built players that have been in a college S&C for a couple of years.

Michigan loses two players that have more of the intangibles that you want for leaders, but they aren't the most talented or athletic so it should be interesting next year.

Coach Beilein is bringing in his best class next year. Besides McGary, bringing he Glenn Robinson III (son of "Big Dog from Purdue) and Nick Stauskas who should help with the talent and being more athletic roster as well.

Hey Eroc

Nice interacting this week.

Zach was onthe Dakich show talking about the shift in culture last week, I put the link tot he podcast up on your site a few days ago. Well worth lstening to. Stu and Zach are really good guys who usualy have more impact o a game in a way taht never shows up on a stat sheet. THey will be missed on the floor but more imprtantly in the locker room.

GR3 is not one of those guys off the floor  but he does have a lot of upside with his atjhleticsm and skill. . If you have not already found it there is an article in the NWI times a few weeks back with him talking to one of the Lake Central fans who has been there watching sports for over 80 years. Gives you some insight into young Glenn's character. Nice kid.

Bacari has been good in briinging the Brand back and geting some toughness going. WIth GR3 he will have  a kid who has his own skills but a lot more physical presence than Coach ALexander had when heh was playing. I think he will do a nice job with your incoming bigs.

Zach and Stu will be heading overseas.as soon as they are done and will see some nice time over there.

The core returns strong and this loss will focus them coming into next year. I look for a lot of change withthe draft, coaching changes,  Entire systems like Iowa, IU and you guys will reatain key players who are program guys staying 4 years. Big Ten looks like a good league next year for sure.

THanks for being over here., first time in my life I have ever rooted against Zach as he and his pops are really exceptional guys. Peace

never argue with idiots, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Winter comes and asks how you spent your summer.....

The game loves and rewards those who love and reward the game
