Use this thread to talk about hotel deals, ticket info, Bobcat Bashes and general Bobcatness in and around Nashville.

Bridgestone Arena Info

Bobcat Bash

From Greencat:

Very happy VU fans, needless to say...obviously, tonight.

But a number of us have connections to Ohio University and were very happy with your win over Akron...what a thriller it was.  And the Bobcats gave Florida quite a scare last time they were here.

Anyway - stay away from cheapo hotels in areas with names such as "Trinity Lane" or "Dickerson Pike."  Pay a few more $$ and don't risk getting carjacked in the wrong area.

There is a good list of local places to eat on the Vandy forum...
http://vanderbilt.scout.com/3/nashvillerestaurants.html

Otherwise, this site always has good Nashville hotel and rental car deals...

The downtown Hilton would be ideal...about a 20 second walk...but won't come cheap.  I have stayed there on business 5 times and it is perfectly located for basketball/dining/entertainment/nighylife.

Anyone have insight into how ticketing works?  They sell tickets in 2 game sessions right?  An afternoon session and an evening session?  Is it ever possible to work out a deal with a fan of the other game in the session to swap tickets?  And does anyone know the cost range?

i just bought tickets on stubhub for Friday's second session.  Lower Bowl Sec 109 Row B (behind the basket) for $106 each.   I still havent heard official confirmation but i did see the blurb below listed on ncca.com ticket exchange link for the ncaa basketball tournament in nashville.

I booked Suite with two double beds for $80 on booking.com for the Ramada Inn and Suites Nashville.  Its not what i had hoped for but i dont plan to spend much time awake in the room after seeing the Bobcats play and hitting Margaritaville afterwards.

Downtown rooms were going for $300+.  I tried to avoid a ****hole and this hotel had a 7.1 rating.  im rolling the dice a tad but it had no cancellation policy before 3/15.

there are a TON or rooms in Nashville under $75. buyer beware, of course.  but a priceline Name Your Own Price in the near future might pay off.

It was simple to do in 2005. We lost our game, and then sold the 2nd and 3rd session (rd of 32) tickets for just about face value immediately outside of the arena. Hoping for similar luck this year, and no need to sell the Sunday session tickets.

Also, I'm holding out some hope that I can score tickets through the OU Ticket office allotment, but that could be a tall order. They're usually fairly limited.

If the above ticket exchange blurb is correct, we won't be until session 2, so if you're disinterested in session 1 and have an all session pass you'll have to get out there Friday morning to scalp it.

Yeah...but Louisville was one of the other teams at the site in 2005, so their fans were carrying the load being less than 3 hours away.

I really think tickets will be easy to come by and drop on price on second hand market given the lineup of:

Ohio
Michigan
Temple
California/USF
St Bonaventure
Cincinnati
Texas
Florida State
  • The arena holds 17,000+..
  • It's not soldout now (you can buy on TM now)...
  • there was just an article in USAToday Friday on declining interest in college basketball...
  • the closest team is Cincinnati at about 5 hours, then Ohio at 7 hours, then everyone else is 9+.
  • What a pain for fans of Cal/USF to do travel plans for a play-in game

I wouldn't by the other sessions unless you want to attend them.  If nothing else, guarantee your Ohio session, then pickup cheapies for the early session outside the arena at gametime.

For SPG/Starwood members, the Sheraton Downtown opened up some rooms today for 7,000 points.  Great deal.  I looked last night and they were booked.  I guess some fans were holding rooms in case their team (Kentucky ?) got placed there.

Hello Bobcat fans,
First off congratulations on your NCAA tourny bid.  I am from St. Bonaventure, and I am looking to  take my daughter to the tournament. in Nashville.  I can not afford to buy the whole tournament package and was wondering if anyone would be willing to sell their first session  tickets since the bobcats are playing the second session.  If anyone is interested in selling 2 first session tickets please contact me at jahmon07@yahoo.com. ; This is a once in a lifetime chance for us and it would truly be a blessing if anyone could help.  Thank you very much and Lets fo Ohio.

I booked at the Downtown Holiday Inn for $269.  2 blocks from arena.  One's right across the street from arena were $100 more and I figured I was in good enough shape to walk 2 blocks for $100.

You can buy individual session tickets on sites like stubhub.

For anyone who cares / is interested:

I was able to get 2 tickets for the game in section 109 (one section away from the OU sections) for $64 each on stubhub. I got a motel room at the Embassy Suites by the airport for $65 on priceline. I'll worry about Sunday after we beat Michigan :).

Ted - Are walkups accepted?  Looks like a good time (and deal) to me, but not certain we will get there in time.

It lists the deadline as 8 AM tomorrow. But if you look at the message at the bottom its says registration is closed and walk-ups are accepted. So I would assume you're OK.

I was able to get tickets on Stubhub in section 109 for about face value.  If you buy tickets, pay attention to the seating chart.  Some sections on the corners and behind the basket have Double Letter rows first (closer to the floor) whereas sections between the baselines have the lower rows as single letters.  So I am in row JJ, but that is only the 10th row from the floor.

Bought my tickets to the Bobcat Bash. In 2005, my buddies and I attended this, and I believe it was at the same place.  Very nice venue and close walk to the stadium.  It was very cool having the band, university president, and cheerleaders come up before the game.

Cant wait for tomorrow and to see all the fellow Bobcat fans!

Just picked up six in Section 114 for $69 total/each ($55, $11.50 fee, $2.50 fee). Last row in that section.
