I feel it gives them an edge and it's some extra motivation for them to perform. You have to think that the MAC Championship was that much sweeter for our guys beating POY Watts then the Akron crew who walked away with more individual honors. This goes back to high school awards (maybe even earlier) where certain coaches get more of a leeway or get their players on a list because of how the team did or the past success of their program.
