Does anyone have a list of the top 15 all-time scorers (total points) in Ohio hoops history? In Russ pregame interview with BVP he said that BVP can move into the top 15 all time today.

Curious how far he could move up with one more season at Ohio? If he comes back next year and puts up another great season, I think there is worthy discussion of his number being retired down the road. Hell, I think it should be retired regardless. And his career is more than just about numbers. He excelled and helped lead Ohio back to relevance during a freaking pandemic.

BVP can really cement his name in the Ohio record books with one more year.

Good stuff. Another year and BVP really goes down as an all-time Bobcat legend just off numbers.

This list is also a reminder how bad Billy Hahn was where he couldn’t win with Snoop and Jamerson.

On a side note, looking at all the greats listed at the top of the individual categories I did a double-take seeing Wadly's name (Block Percentage) among them.

Also interesting that BVP makes the top 10 in that category!

Wadley, and others on that list other than BVP, more than likely got their blocks up high after the ball left the shooters hand. BVP, on the other hand, uses very quick hands to get the majority of his blocks down low before the shooter even gets the ball up high enough to shoot it.

Another thing I like about BVP, and these don't add to his blocks total, is how he swats everything away from around the rim when an opposing player shoots the ball after the whistle. I remember first noticing this being done by Kevin Garnett in the NBA.

Gonna be hard to get into that top 5...quite a cliff between 5 & 6.

I love BVP, we all do, but I believe jersey retirement standards should be extremely high and BVP doesn't quite get there for me.

The record book is here and gets updated every offseason. https://ohiobobcats.com/documents/2021/5/26/ohio_mbb_2021...

At this moment, Ben is tied with Steve Esterkamp for 15th all time at 1,405 points. Next on the list is Nick Kellogg at 1,449.

I was there when Steve Skaggs broke Walter Luckett's record at the time. Before the shot clock and three pointer.

Another MAC tournament and possible NCAA tournament to change that.

Jersey retirement should be reserved for the absolute legends of the program. Coop for sure should get the honor. Next in the conversation ought to be Snoopy Graham and Brandon Hunter. Love BVP and all he's meant to the program, but I think he's in the Leon Williams/Jerome Tillman category.

Agreed. Great company, but a distinct tier below all-time program players.

A lot could happen over the next 13 months. I think if he can lead Ohio to one more NCAA tourney and at least one more tourney win, that he should absolutely be considered...especially if he's near top 5 in all-time scoring.

He's a legend in my book if we win another MAC Tournament. Think about what this team has accomplished after replacing an NBA draft pick, a starter quitting the game, another starter not playing all year because of injury and the 4th one losing his ability to do what he does best. BVP does whatever is needed of him to win. Obviously he isn't doing any of this on his own but he really is the glue of this team and an extension of Jeff Boals.

Tony Campbell on a lot of those lists... Had he not been plagued by injuries he'd likely be very high on the career scoring list.

I've seen crazier things happen.

If Tony Campbell doesn't break his foot, I think he repeats as POTY, we dance in 2017, and I think he has a case to have his jersey retired.

I don't see the fascination with retiring somebody's jersey. We do have a hall of fame. I think it would be cool if a future player could wear the number of a Bobcat legend.

In this 'What-If' scenario, I imagine a tournament appearance gives Saul some grace, gets extended and miss out on Jeff Boals. You could keep going down this path for far too long. Doe Teyvion Kirk stay and keep Preston somewhat at bay? No tournament appearance last year?

Or, is there a butterfly effect, and if Tony doesn't break his leg, we make the tournament. Kent State misses out, thus Rob Senderoff doesn't have a tourney berth. He gets fired. Decides he wants to coach overseas and gets hired by the Wuhan Dangdai in China. While there, his teams underperform, attendance drops dramatically, and no large crowds are gathering. Thus, a virus in the air at the time doesn't end of spreading throughout the world and is instead contained.

The Dwight Wilson total isn't accurate. He 'only' scored 347 points for OHIO in his one year (so far).

Also, Jason Carter now has 1207 points for OHIO, putting him up on this list. BVP now sits at 1405 and Mark Sears has a chance, if he's here for a while, to really eat into this list. He is already at 702 points scored.

BVP could get to #11 by the end of the year.

If he comes back for next year...

Maybe a chance at 2,000 and #6
