I'm not sure Boals has proven himself enough to attract an offer from a good next-level team. By my count he was 2-8 vs "P" teams at Stony and he's 1-7 at Ohio. That's 3-15. So would he want to leave Ohio for a "P" program that's in the bottom quarter of its conference? Probably not, even for more money. There he would have pressure to perform, while at Ohio he's having success at a place he loves. Not saying it can't happen. With his success he'll come up in speculation in the press, so we can expect more of this, especially where someone is unhappy with their current coach. But I think he still has more to prove before he might get an offer that would be too good to pass up.

An NCAA trip this year or next will do it.

No pressure to preform? Interesting take.

I just wonder at what age a coach stops being a young up-and-comer? Jeff Boals will be 50 by the start of next year's season. I'm not claiming that's old by any means, but I thought it was interesting that the article referred to him 'one of the best young coaches in college basketball right now.' Does that hold true in 2-3 years?

Interesting point... I'd kick the tires on Sean Miller first if I was WVU.

Can somebody hit a pull up jumper for me?.....

I thought the same....no offense to Coach Boals...but I wouldn't consider him a young coach. Maybe in head coaching experience yes, but not his career.

I consider a young rising coaching star to be between 30-42.

When Boals came on board there was a big love fest for a treasured alumnus who many thought should have had the job years earlier. It didn't seem there was as much pressure on him to do well right away as there was on Saul, or JC, or even Groce. The expectation for success was there, but when he started with two fifth-place finishes in the MAC, nobody said hiring him was a mistake. People have been more willing to cut him some slack.

The author of the article, Brad Smith, should become an honorary member of Bobcat Attack. He certainly has the right speculative mindset.
