State of the team with 11 days before Cleveland.

*Sears is slumping. Ignore the garbage time stats. At this point, can you say he's first-team All-MAC? I can't.

*We have a shooting guard in Brown who scored 3000 points in HS, but aside from the occasional 3, he's not somebody that an opposing defense worries about at the D-One level.

*BRod has turned in one of, if not, the worst shooting performance from the 3 point line in school history in a single season. Heck, maybe college hoops history. Somebody might want to check lowest 3-point FG % for a season with a minimum of 90+ attempts in one season. Body language isn't great...too passive too many times.

*BVP is a warrior. I will never criticize because he gives his all and works harder than anyone.

*Carter shoots too many 3's and struggles at times to hit from 4 feet and in. Slow on defense. He had leg issues at Xavier and we know the issues he's had this season.

Our bench has 1 guy that other teams need to be somewhat worried about. Tommy Schmock has somehow become a go to player. Without him, it's a scary thought.

*IJ is a raw athlete. But at this stage, not a threat obviously on the offensive end.

*We saw one glimpse of something out of the Canadian, but that's it, one glimpse and we probably won't see him the rest of the year.

*Sam T...jury is still out. Hasn't been overwhelming up to this point. How much can he help moving forward?

*And for some reason, Clayton....who has shown promise...was buried on the bench against Akron.

So.....we have a lot of warts that we've gotten away with because of the schedule. Not saying we can't somehow find magic in March. But after tonight, it's hard to fathom we could beat say a Buffalo/Kent/Akron and Toledo back to back nights. I'll always dream big, but these Friday night nationally televised games this season have been deflating. How does Boals fix it to where the next time he faces these teams in Cleveland......Ohio isn't done 10 minutes into the game? Will we even get another shot at one of these four teams in Cleveland? Guess we'll find out in 11 days.

This team peaked a month ago.

Too small of a rotation. Guys are tired. The book is out on how to defend Sears. And this group can't defend athletic teams.

It actually might be remarkable at this point if they make it to the MAC semis. Silver lining is hopefully this mild tailspin keeps Boals or Sears from leaving for Power 5 programs.

Nah we'll make the MAC semis. MAC is really bad past top 5. Let's face it, it's why we have 23 wins.

Question is how in the world do we win on Friday or Saturday in Cleveland? I made an unpopular opinion a month or so ago and said I didn't see this team making a March run and I see even less of a chance now.

Tommy has been a wonderful story but the fact he's our #4 scorer and cemented in top 5 of rotation at this stage is telling. And not in a good way.

We had 5 guys play over 12 minutes tonight and 3 of them are 5'10 6'1 and 6'1.

For all the wins this isn't a top caliber NCAA basketball team this year. Not enough shooting. Not enough length. Not enough depth. Losing Preston hurt. Losing DW3 hurt more but was nobody's fault. Losing McDay and BRod turning into a pumpkin adds up to just too much attrition. We'll reload next year.

I'm just sad that tonight could very well have been how BVP ends it in the Convo.

You know, as I read through these posts I agree with all.
Did we overachieve without Preston, Dwight, & London? I am of the believe we did.
I think we will record the best W-L record in Ohio history.
Therefor coach did a great job with the hand he was dealt.

Think of this......If BVP and DW return we should be better, yes better because DW is better than Carter.

Two questions:

Should Tommy be starting?

Does our recent collapse make it more likely that BVP will return for another year? (I think he really wants to go out on a high note, and as a winner.)
