Kind of a strange theme for a bball event.

Also, it seems somewhat strange to choose to have this now, rather than Homecoming. I can see both sides of it I guess. On one side, if you're not an OBC member, getting a parking spot is impossible. On the other hand, the captive audience from Homecoming would have been pretty big.

Hopefully somebody can post a good analysis of what they see on Saturday. Can't wait to get this season started.

It also overlaps with the football game. Provided you have access to ESPN+, I would think there'd be a big overlap of non-students who would come to this that would also be interested in watching football.

There was a home volleyball match in Homecoming Saturday afternoon. If kickoff had been like 2:00, you could have an open practice starting around 11, football at 2, volleyball at 7, but kickoff at 3:30 put a wrench in that.

I know it’s hard to glean much from these events but since we don’t have a lot of video for IJ and even less for Olumide, I would like to know how they look specifically.

Thanks for the input. I didn't realize there was a match in The Convo that day.

Rollie's back! I need another video of TOS airballing a layup in the background.

Not that I know of. Wilson was in street clothes but was getting shots up and moved good while doing it. He seemed to be in good spirits as well.

😂😂😂 Unlike O’Shea Boals actually played in games while in college and was a key player. Boals would not air ball a layup.

There was something that my fiancé (who isn’t big into basketball) said to me while we watched the practice. She said Boals has the best problem to have, a lot of guys can get minutes. I totally agree with that. One thing that really stood out was the play of the new guys.

I stated earlier that AJ looked good. He took outside shots that didn’t fall but they were good ones. He also threw a two hand dunk down as well. One thing that I loved was when he was guarding JC. JC drove to the left block with the ball and AJ was right there on his hip without fouling. Very quick when in fast breaks.

IJ didn’t get a lot of touches but he seemed comfortable with the plays they were running and in person, he’s just as big as DW4. He can run the floor pretty well too.

OLUMIDE ADELODUN (yes I copy and pasted that lol) if I didn’t know any better, someone could’ve told me that he’s a junior and I would’ve believed them. He is big for being a freshman. He took a shot in front of me and his mechanics were very smooth. I can definitely see him being a lethal shooter.

Now to the new… but not new guy. JC looks real good. Was very vocal like a veteran should be. He hit a step back contested 3 over BRod to end the last session and he played a little like BVP. Back down his defender to the block and would hit a step back J or baby hook in the middle of the paint. A little thing on the side…. I was wondering how that relationship with him and Boals would go. I certainly didn’t see anything that shows Boals doesn’t trust him. When they had 5v5, I noticed Boals letting JC get into his teammates about not getting back on D and giving up good looks. Hopefully this continues for the rest of the season.

The transfer: Tommy Shmock. I’m just gonna say it… dude can shoot. He also has very good ball handling skills. I didn’t really notice him on defense though. Which is one thing that Miles was just on a different level with today. Tommy didn’t look flustered and ran the offense with ease. I wonder how Boals is gonna treat this backup PG position.

I think that's the theme for the year. Confusing branding. Sounds like a football theme.

Thanks Cats5! Glad to hear AJ Clayton is progressing nicely. To be honest, I was thinking he would redshirt this year and take the league by storm next. Maybe we need him now if Dwight is recovering? Very curious to see how everything shakes out…

"Run it back" is a basketball term, as well. It's typically used in pick up games, where the winning team gets to stay on the court and play again.

Sorry if I missed the specifics, but what is DW3 recovering from?

The theme makes sense to me, but maybe it's cultural.

Oh, nothing certain but Cats5 said in his post about the scrimmage, that Dwight didn’t participate in the game so, there may be something up with him… Note the word “if”… ;)
