Not sure how good that gig is. The coach is bolting to be an assistant women's coach at Vandy where his wife was just hired as head coach.

It's still one of 351 D-1 head coaching gigs.

East coast school so it fits the original use of the meme.

I'll allow it!

Was it named after the late Lowell George of Little Feat?

They've been middle-of-the-pack in the Am East for the past five years, so there's not a major rebuild here. Wouldn't be surprised to see JC's name come up.

Checking out the coaches data base, the old coach was making 250k base plus part (at least 20k) of a 170k pot for the basketball department

First one in a long tine where I didn’t know if the thread title was a meme or real life.

My thought as well, made me think he was coming out of retirement.

This is actually the best "TOS to..." thread ever. It is a barely D1 school in the New England area. You can bet TOS would have applied for this job.

If UMass-Lowell was closer to non-D1 if might have to join the current version of the "WAC" and play Dixie College, Terlinstone State, Cal-Baptist, etc. **

** No this is not sarcastic. Those are teams now in the "WAC." I wish this was sarcasm but the (cough-cough) "winner" of that conference still gets an automatic bid to the big dance, as if it was the same membership as long ago.

Past/No longer members of the WAC...

Arizona
Arizona State
Boise State
BYU
Colorado State
UNLV
New Mexico
San Diego State
San Jose State
SMU
TCU
Utah
UTEP
Tulsa
Utah State
Wyoming

The WAC gets a bit of an upgrade in July when Abilene Christian (who beat Texas in the NCAA tourney this year), Lamar, Sam Houston and Stephen F. Austin join the conference as full members. They'll be joined by Central Arkansas, EKU and Jacksonville State of Alabama in the new WAC football league in 1AA. Then after Chicago State leaves next year, Southern Utah joins as a full member. It looks like NMSU will stay as a member for everything but football.

Hope Grand Canyon enjoyed their visit to the big dance.

Looks like it won't happen again after the new teams join.

Might your view be tainted by your disdain for Drew? Coach Walker is out there recruiting hard. It seems they are putting together a nice program with some good incoming talent Do you not think they will continue to do well and the league will be stronger with the additions. I wonder how many of the 5 seniors will return next year. Seems like a senior laden team that went to the tourney this year might want some more.

Unfortunately, at least one of those seniors won't be returning. Oscar Frayer was killed in a car accident three days after Grand Canyon's first round game against Iowa.
