If all this years players return there is no telling what this team can accomplish. And let's not forget that this team could be together for 2 more years
based on NCAA rules.
We will most likely be preseason conference winners.
We will also be considered an NCAA Tournament team.
We could also be a top 10 team, like Jim Snyder's 1969-70 team was in December of 1969.
Next point to consider will be how well we can recruit with our recent success.

THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT

This is not meant to temper tour enthusiam buti felt the exact same way in 2013.

I researched ncaa rd 1 venues before the season and made travel plans in my head.

Ahhhh, good times!

It would really help to schedule four or five mid-to-high level "P" teams for next season. It would really help our seeding for NCAA tourney purposes and help our chances for an at-large bid in case the MAC tourney doesn't work out. Winning a few of them would also be a boost.

We will get by.

We got our asses kicked by Creighton.

Sure, we shot poorly. But aside from a 6 minute stretch in the second half, Creighton got exactly what they wanted offensively. Their ball movement had us two steps behind every action, they got tons of wide open looks and shots at the rim. They probably shot 90% at the rim, too.

We had a great season. We have good talent and a lot of promise. We're not a top 10 team. We're not Gonzaga of the midwest.

We're still a mid-major in a one bid league -- who finished third in that league, mind you. We can be very good next year, and not go to the tournament. It's a small minority, but the expectations are getting pretty crazy amongst that small minority.

I think the scheduling philosophy advanced to me over the years bears this out. "we need to schedule for all the new blood" translated to Norfolk St, NC A&T, Lamar and some of those teams that were going to be strong in a weaker league (Fuss was a master of finding those) to now....where we should be looking at filling those spots with P5 teams that are beatable to help.

This is one of those years where what I was told "once we have a senior laden team with experience we can schedule those..." applies. Walk it like you talk it and get it done.

never argue with idiots, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

A one bid league with Ohio, Buffalo and Akron the only serious contenders. The probability of winning Cleveland is going to be up with all the returning players. Likely to at least make it to the MAC semifinals.

I don't see a reason not to be excited about higher expectations that come with more and better TV slots for next season. Didn't Toledo get an appearance on CBS as the top regular season team? Any big non-conference opponent is going to be interesting because of the real hope the bobcats can win.

Be excited but don't be disappointed if we don't make it back to the NCAAs.

We should schedule specifically to get experience we normally wouldn't. That means plying in pre season tourneys with strong teams to get us battle tested. Add in some non conference games against teams lik duke,Kentucky, and Michigan state. Jeff could then sit with the coach and ask for help in how to utilize players and what to do differently.

I agree,we aren't a top 10 team . We're not even a top 25 team. We do have potential but it's not fully utilized in the mac. Conference USA, American and big east are all multi bid conferences we could compete with the teams in these conferences well enough not to have to win the tourney to see the NCAA tournament.

true ....but I think giacomo will be here in a minute to remind you we can't afford to get to those places to play games.

CUSA is NOT a multi bid league. That's been explained on here several times, but 2000 refuses to grasp it.

Your obsession with arguing to get the program to increase its costs and abandon longstanding rivalries and partnerships for a minor stepdown in recent average level of play in CUSA is just bizarre.

No. This is an exaggeration. They made a lot contested shots in addition to open ones, and our defense didn't start to give until the second half when energy faded. Creighton didn't shoot a free throw for the first, what, 30 minutes? They made jump shots, but I will stand by us being the better team in the paint. We won the second half. It wasn't a tense game, but we made them perform to beat us.

JSF...we were the better team in the paint? What game were you watching? We couldn't guard them in the paint and we don't play above the rim like they did. Sorry, I really disagree with you on this one.

We had more second chance points, we dominated on the boards, and we held them to 37% in the second half in 2-pointers to our 41%. As I said, I stand by it. Offensively, we did not have much trouble inside from their defense. We just missed shots we should not have. The game was lost on the perimeter and the turnover battle.

Coattail bids have become rare. Its about who you can beat and you'll need at least 3 wins against teams in your conference that are locks for the tourney on their own resume to have a chance. Bids to the NCAAT aren't given out like candy.

I'd like it to be an exaggeration, and I'm proud of the way the team fought. But I'm not sure it's a huge exaggeration, unfortunately.

Despite not shooting a free throw for 30 minutes, they still averaged more FTA per FGA than we did. Their TS% was 52.5%. Ours was 37.1%. Going off the ESPN shot chart, we went 10-27 in the paint. They went 14 for 23. Their win probability never dipped below 90% in the second half.

Shooting percentage isn't everything, obviously. But Bishop alone had 4 or 5 easy buckets in the paint for them and as hard as Wilson worked, he had trouble with their length.
